Als oneed to konw about moving and mounting my crossmemeber for the AW4 tranny. I have god knowledge in older mechanics ( non EFI) now enough about new ones to keep them going but i am affriad of the wiring. if any one is willing to help to gain a buddy or lend a hand and teach me for a price let me know.

do you already have the motor and trans ? if not why would you want a 4.0 in that heavy clunker? i would drop a 350 or possibly even a 360 if you wanted to stick to AMC in that thing

why not a v-8

actually My J-10 is a step side and is the smallest and lightest of all the FSJ's And my ultimate goal is to stroke it once I put some miles on the 4.0 swap. I can push just as much power from that L6 as I can from a v-8 plus I hate v-8 motors Sure chevys 350's amc 360 are booth very good motors money wise I get the awesome low end torque and good high way miles with the swap and the benefit of EFi and more avaible parts for my truck.

the 350 is a aslo really expensive to swap into and FSJ and requires allot of mods and a 360 is good but gas prices are climbing and parts are getting harder to come by and the latter day carb is slowing starting to fade a way. I don't need that big v-8 once a stoke it I will climb any were that v-8 can plus I know that straight six will run that those v-8s into the ground. I haves seen more that 3 dozen 4.0 with over 200,000 miles on them

I swapped a 4.0 into my cj8 and know what you would need to do. There is a good web site that is dedicated to swapping in 4.0 engines. You can find the site at cjoffroad.com, it has lots of good information.

i hear you on all your points but don't think that a stroked 4.0 is going to get that much better gas milage or last as long as a stock motor.you are going to stroke it you are adding compression to a motor that was not designed for it .it will shorten the life of that motor.just like when you stoke a 350 it shortens the life of that motor by half.

oh and if you still want to go 4.0 stroker . i have a complete stroker kit with all parts needed that i'm selling.i decided i didn't want to go that route so i have all the parts still in boxes and being stored correctly in my garage.all the parts combined come out to about 900 i'm selling them for 600
