The ZC is alive and well. I've heard 1st hand stories of black-balling and otherwise if you ain't down with the club and know all thier secret handshakes and signs.

Being an Ex-Mormon myself, I can at least give em the secret passwords if I got myself in a pinch!! ;)

Calling Porter Rockwell, Porter Rockwell, please report to Sandy...yes, there...

Is that how it's done? I've never been involved in a black-ball, is it like church-ball? Cause that gets pretty violent and I've done that. And to think, all these years as a Mormon and I've been missing out on the black-balling.

I dunno? I'm new to the whole black-balling game?

I'm even playing golf with a non-member tomorrow. I'm not even going to try to convert him. I must be a bad Mo.

You guys are funny, but haven't experienced living down this way and not being an active member. My kids have been left out of many things and most of my neighbors are a joke. Poo poo all you want, but until you've lived it you wouldn't believe it.

I'm sure there's issues, but the crap kbjames is spewing it a bit ridiculous and was begging to be responded to. Since my early teenage years I haven't been active. I got 'the look' and had been left out of activities myself because I wasn't doing what everyone else did. I 'straightened up' for a short time and did my 2 yrs and went back to my old habits. I lived in Orem and I was left out, by my choice. There's things I don't like about people in Utah County, which is why I live elsewhere. Matter of fact, there's things I don't like about UT in general and a good reason I live in CO. ;)

I've not exactly been an active member all my life and have experienced what you've experienced. It's stupid, wrong and goes against what the church itself teaches. Hypocritical bastages that do that bug the hell out of me in or out of the "church". The ones that go to my church hear about from me if I'm aware of a situation like that.

I make a point to try to befriend ANYONE in my neighborhood I see regularly. On the street, at our little community mailbox or wherever. I LOVE the circle I live in. It's only got 3 "active" families out of 8 possible.

I think they're uncomfortable to see me go to church Sunday mornings, but because I make an effort not to judge them and tell them what they should/shouldn't be doing, they just let things slide and we're just friends/neighbors. It's kind of nice. My little Davis county Utopia by the refineries.

I'm probably coming off as an arrogant ass.....so I'll stop now.

heck all this sounds just like up here in layton area... its heavy Mo here... the first few times the missionaries came by I politely told them no and then finally had to beg the bishop to stop them from coming by... now I can't even get anyone to talk to us here in the neighborhood... and our daughter had a very ruff time even though she was going to their church every week,,, seems they don't like having kids coming but their parents not... (no money in that).

I'm sorry, the last thing the church needs is your money.

No, you're not coming off that way, but you don't live down here either. I understand what you're saying. I've heard it said this way, Salt Lake City is the headquarters of the Church, but Provo/Orem is the heart of the Church. If you're not in, you're out.

My last comment on this.

From my perception, seems like the area I live in down here in Lehi is not in the provo/orem crowd. All the neighborhood kids play together, active, inactive or nonmember. Really friendly hood where most everyone keeps to themselves but have no problem helping out if needed. Really like it here. :D
