My neighbor and I both need a hot water heater. Suspicious since we both needed to sink too much $ into dana 60s at the same time. But that's a different story.

Anyone here have good luck with and recommend a reputable person to buy from? We've check the home depot route but maybe there's a small business who needs the work.

I got my last one from Standard Plumbing Supply. I think it was $30 cheaper than the equivalent one at Home Depot. (the equivalent being the cheapest/most basic one they had)

I'd look at a tankless setup. I'm sure they're more $$$, but they last longer, and are way more efficient, plus you'll never run out of hot water again! I'll bet there are even rebates/tax credits available.

This does not answer your question but, in my new home we put in two 50 gal water heaters. All four of us can take a shower at the same time and we never run out of hot water. If you can afford it, it is a nice upgrade.
