need some help

i have an 88 gmc s15 4x4. when i put it in to 4low or 4high it wont lock the front hubs. every thing is stock on it but id like to get the hub to start to work and i have never done hubs before and any help would be nice and what would be so good manual hubs. thx
 
If I remember right that uses a vaccum line to engage the front axle. Check to see if it has come off and go from there. Let us know what happens.

Good luck getting manual hubs on there without an axle swap.

Vacuum problems are 99% of the issue with these, from what I'm learning since getting mine LOL There is an acutator under the battery that goes bad. Could be just the line fell off, could be the actuator, could be the switch. Work your way through it.

And get a Haynes manual for it at the local parts store. ;)

Mine used to be the vacuum system but got swapped to manual. So it can be done, why is it such a problem?
