I would recommend it. Low range also stocks the brake lines. You'll need 2 front brake lines and one rear. you'll need to raise the proportioning valve up an inch or two as well.

Colton (going up) on here has the FJ 80 coils and a spacer on his runner, and him and the previous owner have been wheeling it hard and daily driving it for the past 5 years.

i wouldnt worry about the brake lines in the front crap i still run mine just cut the bracket off and move it lower down on the frame and tack it, the rear will need a 5 inch loner line but evco house of house is good for that. I brought my old rear brake line in and they had a new longer one made in 5 mins and it only cost me 13 bucks

Yup what steve said. I am running a spacer in the front, and the fj80 coils, and the sway bar is off on the back. I have done steelbender, golden spike, Moab rim, etc the way it sits. Works great! Been stock piling parts for a SAS tho. Gotta be able to do everything :)

Have a pic of your 4Runner?
E-locker?

If Kurt is not available I would contact Steve at Sonoransteel.com he is the Kurt of 3rd gens.

Toyteclifts.com is an OK resource for 3rd gens as is Daystar.

The rear brake line will need to be replaced with a longer unit. There is no proportioning valve as it is a 4Runner. Front brake lines are long enough for use with a standard kit.

The diff-drop IS necessary for CV longevity and the resulting loss in clearance is hardly noticeable since the factory skid covers it.

The use of longer front springs will require a spring compressor.

For your time constraints I think this is your best bet:

In all honesty I would remove the running boards, mud flaps and maybe the rear hitch and take it easy. Save for a permanent lift via Kurt/OME or SonoranSteel.com

Removing the front sway bar is a mistake.

If you decide to lift before the trip do the shop or yourself a favor and get out there NOW with some WD-40, PB, LPS, witch-piss, whatever and spray all those old fasteners down.

I work for Jerry Seiner Chevrolet. Our shop is open until 12AM. So facilities and manpower aren't my problem, product which I have not budgeted for and time is. The folks from IL who will be driving my 99% ready Jeep will arrive Mon night and I will also be pitching in. Even the techs offered to donate gear oil and service the diffs for me.... after telling me that I'm a dumbass.
My plan was to go OME as I have on the Jeep but that's not in the cards within the next 48hrs. Which is why I've appreciated everyone's input on alternatives. The more contacts I have, the better chance I have to pull this off.

Thanks.

Game on...

Grab that spacer for the front. If that one evaporates I've got some take-off spacers here that will work on your front setup.

We need to find you some 80 front coils, I've got none right now but they are not generally hard to find. I'll post up on the local Cruiser club forum for you but I would start a want thread here too.

Shocks should be easy. If we can score you some OME it would be ideal, that way when your ready to clean up this lift with some OME components you'll already have the shocks however in a pinch we can do some Bilsteins or similar that will get your rocking too.

I got the springs, I have to meet up with the person selling the spacer on the KSL ad SAMI linked to and get the shocks figured out. In theory, I could be lifted this evening.

Just a reminder to check your ball joints when you're in there. A few of us have had them brake while we were moving, and it did a lot of damage.

Good luck tonight, I'm looking forward to seeing that rig lifted.

Went to see Bear over at 4WP and he helped me find a rear shock that is the correct length. They should be here tomorrow AM.

It's been suggested to me that in a pinch, you can get by with the brake line disconnected from the frame in the short term.
