I have a midland CB radio, its just a small one, but now when i turn it on, i dont see any transmittle bars, when i change the RF/Squelch i can't even get it to sound like static, so i'm pretty sure that its gone bad. What would your suggestion be for a replacement? I don't want to go TOO expensive, but want one that will last.

What would you consider too expensive? I had a bargain basement RadioShack CB for 10 years that I paid $40 for. It was OK as a EJS style CB (just idle chat over a very short distance) but was not very tunable. I recently got a Cobra 75 WX ST and have been very please with it. Extremely compact, quite a few more options than the RadioShack number and not that expensive at $90 from Communication Products in West Valley.

I agree on the cobra stephen said... It's nice in a jeep because there is no big box to mount. It's all in the mic.

I wouldn't blame it on your CB yet. Check your external connection to your antenae and make sure the rust is cleaned off of it so it has a good ground. I thought the same thing, bought a new radio and had the same problem. Took it to the CB shop in Moab and then guy there cleaned the antenae mount and it was good as new.

I'll check the connection tomorrow, it had been working all winter and then just stopped. Only reason i'd stay away from the wx st is because i have a PA as well.
