New 4 wheeler

Hi all

Just made a purchase of an '88 Land Cruiser in Red (FJ62). Absolutely love it (not the gas mileage ). Haven't done any wheeling yet. I'm finishing up high school (I'm 17), and have environmentalist parents, which leaves little room for any off-roading. I live by the REI on 33rd in SLC. Are there any trails in a 30 mile radius I could visit? I'm a complete newbie to the pastime, so nothing too hard

I'll be sure to post a few pics of my new truck here soon...

Thanks!

Welcome bud. There are always people posting trips in the "Upcoming Wheelin' Trips". Be on the lookout for the northern Utah thread. Post up a pic of your Cruiser!

Thanks everyone. Here are a few pics. Quick question--is Skyline Drive up in Bountiful snowed in?

That is a great looking wagon

We need to get a lift under there :D

Thanks mate! Yeah, I've been looking into doing that, so I can stick some real dedicated off road tires on it (have "highway all seasons" on it now). I'm a bit short on money at the time--what's the cheapest option I could go for? I'm not looking for an insane lift, maybe a few inches. :)

Give me a call during the day or schedule a time to stop by and we can chat about all the options. Its better to save up and do it right the first time than to try and get by with a sub-par lift that will leave you wanting and will end up costing more in the end. That said you can do it in phases, meaning start with shocks, shackles, spring pins, etc and then do the lift springs, etc.

Thanks everyone! Does anybody know were I could get a shop manual for my Cruiser? I'd like to do some of the basic work myself to save money…
