New and want to be responsible/involved

Hey folks new to the area, Just joined RME forum and U4WDA. I believe wholly in not only having a lot of fun on the land but being responsible so others can use and enjoy too. I tried muddling through a few searches but no luck. My question is:

Where can I find some info on nice newbish type trails to just go out with the wife and dog to explore the off the beaten path areas since we just moved here. Nothing crazy yet I just want to get used to my new 73 Bronco and explore, look around take photos.

2 where can I find information on responsible trail use, safety, etc. I am assuming U4WDA has this info somewhere but haven't really explored. We are house hunting, snapping in to a new job etc so hoping someone will be kind enough to slide some good info my way :) MUCH appreciated.

To learn about some of the trails around here, take a look at the "Trip Reports" section:

If you see pics or descriptions of a trail that sounds fun, just ask where it is and someone should chime in.

Also, keep an eye on the "Upcoming Wheelin' Trips" section:

People will post when they're planning on heading out to an area, and they usually include an open invitation. The best way to learn about the area is to get out with people who know where things are and play around.

Also, check out the other clubs listed on the U4WDA site:

http://www.u4wda.org/clubs.html

Most clubs do a monthly run, and post the info on their website. Watch utah4x4club.com and utahoffroad.com for additional activities. A lot of people are members of multiple clubs, so don't be afraid to join 'em all!

National Public Lands Day is a big service project coming up next weekend, and it'd be a good chance to get out and meet some people.

RME is doing a project in the 5 Mile Pass Recreation Area. It's about 45-60 minutes from Salt Lake City:

In addition, U4WDA is doing a big group project in an area called American Fork Canyon, which is also about 45-60 minutes from SLC. The specifics of that one are here:

And there's info about all the NPLD projects going on here:

As for getting involved, consider attending the U4WDA board of directors meetings. The meetings are open to anyone, and are held the last Thursday of every month. The location is at the Larry H. Miller Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealership in Sandy (just south of Salt Lake City). It is located at 10905 South Autodrive Mall just off 10600 South. The meetings start at 6:30 and usually go to about 7:30 or 8:00. If you need better directions, just PM me here on RME.

Thanks folks VERY kind of you to give me so much info so quickly I truly appreciate it. I'll see you guys out there. If you see a big goofy looking guy that is lost, in strange predicament or standing around scratching his head looking confused it is probably me so say hello.
