New Buggy Build To Front Clip or Not to Front Clip

So the new buggy is beginning, Should I use a front clip to give it some identity or just tube it and call it good? I have free access to a old postal jeep grill and hood, cj style. Also I'm starting with a YJ frame- when attaching my 1-3/4 inch .120 DOM to it should I plate it or just straight to the frame?

For what my opinion is worth....

No front clip...

No plate... just weld it straight to the frame. ;)

I like them to look like something. I can't really envision a buggy with a postal Jeep front clip that looks good though. I like, slopey and sleek looking front ends.

I know a guy in SLC that sells repros... has a company that does it and everything.

argh I can't remember the name of the company!!! I'll find it.

I just don't like those bulbous Postal grilles. UGLY>

there is also a willys postal jeep at the same place as the postal jeep, I just don't think it will be free, but I do agree willys grills are sweet

you can get a one piece front end made of fiberglass so you can just make it fold forward to work on it. Then you can get what ever body style you want.

I leaning toward either no grill or a grill with just a skin type hood. I know this thing will get rolled or flopped a lot so a hood will just get mangled. Fiberglass wouldn't hold up very well in this build I don't think;)

Go with a front clip, buggies w/o for just plain fugly. Give it some style. You can buy a CJ hood from interstate for like $90, and grills are easy to get. Or get sami or toy hood from a junkyard. Oh, and most fiberglass like twisted customs hoods hold up way better than steel hoods in a rollover. Good luck on the build, post up some pics. No plates also!!!
