MoabFriends-For-Wheelin’ recently met with the BLM regarding the permit system forCoyote Canyon, and BLM has agreed toamend the permits for 2016. While permitted use will still be only on Fridaysand Saturdays February 16 through November 30, and the maximum number ofvehicles will still be 7 per day, we will no longer have to provide a list oflicense plate or OHV tag numbers of the participants prior to running thetrail. The person who applies for the permit will be responsible for ensuringthat only 7 rigs per day run the trail. This will make it easier forlast-minute participants to be able to run the trail. The rules of use will be printed on the backof the permit, which must be carried by the trail leader. MFFW has agreed tohelp perform some “spot checks” to ensure that the rules are being followed.Permits are still free, and may be applied for online at http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/moab/recreation/motorized_routes/coyote_canyon.html.
