New DOT legal beadlock coming soon!

Unfortunately, these were not available by UA, so no feedback from me on this one!

Yeah there were a few set backs in the molding process. It took a little longer to get them produced and then go through the safety testing. That's a bummer that the timing didn't work out

Just wanted to update this thread with a handful of new pics. The tire in the pics i believe is a 42" pitbull.

The coter pin is ensure that the nut doesn't try to back off.

A nice thick hub which is one of the reasons why the wheel is rated upto a 42" tire.

so let me get this straight, the the title of this thread is misleading.

it is not a "dot legal bead lock" as a state safety inspector i know that would be a contradiction in terms.

it is a wheel, which by itself would be DOT compliant. that has bead-locking components that can be added to it for off-road use?

am i reading this correctly?

No, that's not right. The locking components are inside the wheel and are always there. You can add or remove a cosmetic ring to make it look like a beadlock.

I would revise the thread title if i could to read different. The wheels meet or exceed all the nation wheel and tire standards, which give the wheel the ability to carry the D.O.T. stamp. The internal locking rings are within the air chamber. Unless you disclose that no one would ever know it was a beadlock. The outter ring is completley optional and has no affect on the mechanics of the beadlock.

Not quite... The internal locking mechanisms can be removed, and the wheel can still be used as a very nice looking, non-bead lock wheel. But you're right on the outer ring - it is a sacrificial rock ring that does not need to be run if you don't want to.

B2 - I was under the impression that the wheel being a bead lock was not the "illegal" part, it was the fact the the wheels were 2 pieces, and both pieces had to be present/installed/functioning for the tire to hold air. Is this not the case?

Looks nice. Just watched the video about them.

Any news on pricing yet?

The last I heard he was still getting pricing on the hardware and rock rings. Nothing set yet.

Pricing will be released in early October, and there will be a couple options (steel, aluminum or no rock rings...)

/hijack - Sorry.:)

***edited my post(s) to make sure I am not saying things I shouldn't. It happens a lot. :p***

Bryson - Not a problem about the hijack. Kevin told me that you were able to get in on a set of the sold out first run wheels. Congrats!

no, the reason is that it causes a shear-point on the sidewall of the tire...or so they claim.

i'm not knocking these wheels, i think they are freaking awesome. i am just being the devil's advocate here

2-piece wheels actually aren't illegal, (but are rare, especially since it's not 1955 anymore) if 2-piece wheels were illegal it would specify something about it

per http://publicsafety.utah.gov/safetyi...T%20Manual.pdf

a.
REJECT when:

1) Wheel bolts, nuts, studs or lugs are loose, missing or not

properly fastened.

2) Wheels are bent, cracked, re-welded or have elongated bolt

holes.

3) Spacers are used to increase the wheel track width.

4) Bead lock wheels are installed.
