New house, need advice on blinds, washer/dryer, and lawn mowers!

We finally are ready to move into the new house and need to buy some new stuff.

1. Anyone know a good place to get window blinds? How are Home depot and Lowe's? I think we are going to go with a 2" wood or simulated wood blind.

2. Advice on a mid range washer and gas dryer. Something in between the bad ass front loading and the base level. Saw a few GE's that fit the bill.

3. Advice on a lawn mower. Only have grass in the front yard at this point so no need for anything huge. Looking at a low to mid range Honda.

I've had a Toro personal pace mower for 5 years without any problems
except when Debbie thought the oil was low until it flowed out the fill tube

It starts every time and runs good still.
My front and back yard will fill the bag 7 times but I only use the bag in the fall and first of spring.
Mine is a 20092 model.

I bought all my blinds at the Home Depot. They are 2" simulated wood blinds... they have a fairly good selection, and they can even cut them to fit if the off-the-shelf sizes won't work.

I priced blinds at home depot/lowes and I actually got them cheaper via a dealer. He did all the work including install for ~$550. Thats 11 windows.

I installed all of mine... I'd have paid $550 just to have someone else do that! Ok, not really, but it would have been nice to have professional install.

I just bought Bosch front loading washer and gas dryer. A bit spendy but I think they were worth the money. I also bought the pedestals. Quiet, uses hardly any water, and I got a couple hundred dollars back from Questar and Rocky Mountain Power.

I bought mine at Boyle Appliance in Ogden. They actually beat out in price RC Willey, Sears, Lowes, and Home Depot.

Lloyds does all the drapes for my mom's model homes. He has been doing them for at least 20 years and does a great job. He did mine at my house and was very reasonable.

Do not get the GE washer! I bought a pair of these for my first home and ended up replacing them when they both failed just months after the warranty was up. I tried nursing them along but then bigger things went out. I would suggest you go with Maytag or some other good name brand. I bought my Maytag washer and dryer 7+ years ago with the extended warranty and have not had any problems with them. I used the extended warranty to pay for the yearly service checkups.

You can't go wrong with a low to mid range honda. Some good deals can also be found on used ones.

I've got the Home Depot 2" blinds. Had them in for 8 years now... So far no problems with them.

1. Home depot was good to us.

2 and 3, My advice is to find a good drop off laundry in the new neighborhood, and pick your clothes up clean and folded. Then take 1 of the 1000 fliers your going to get for yard care, and have one of them do it. Life's too short for laundry and yardwork.

My "spendy" Bosch washer and dryer are now in the process of being returned. Started out to be nice machines, but after about 2 months the washer would walk all over the laundry room. Twice it came out so far I had to go out the front door and come in through the garage door and take the door off its hinges to gain access to the laundry room.

Pretty sad you drop that much coin on a product only to have to return it as defective.

We're going back to Maytag top loaders.

I've heard the walking is a big issue for front loaders. I will say my Samsung front loaders are going on three years old and they are still as nice as the day they were bought. I've been extremely happy with them.

I guess an update is in order.
1. Had Wallpaper Warehouse do the blinds and they are great.
2. Got the upper end GE huge top loading washer and matching gas dryer from Home Depot. Have received a total of $180 back in rebates from Rocky Mt. Power and Questar and a $100 visa card from GE. Very happy with the set. Oh yea the washer had a light 1" scratch on top so they took off $75.
3. Bought the cheapest Honda Mower HD carried and the 4 times I used before the snow it did great.
