I makes so much more sense and is very specific for each size rig. Its a huge improvement and I am very glad that it was passed. I'm a fan. It was much better than the old law. But my truck still isn't legal......:(

Can we call a re-do?? :D

I was pulled over a few months ago and the cop didn't have a clue about the new lift law.

I tried to explain it to him but,,,,, have you ever tried that....

It works great for the little guys. I got pulled over by UHP a couple weeks ago and he asked me all kinds of questions about my rig. The only thing he did was give me a fix-it ticket for no mudflaps. He asked me if I knew how far off the ground I was and what I did to my flares etc.........
He was way cool about the whole thing.
I am legal, 20" off the ground, but my tires do stick out about an 1", he noticed that but saw that I tried to correct the situation and said sign here and have a nice day.

Please correct me if I am wrong. The new lift laws allow for a maximum of 24" from floor to frame at the lowest point and without anything attached or welded on to lower the frame. This is on a jeep. Can you measure from the spring hanger? The lowest point on my Scrambler frame is 23.5" with 33" tires and i want to put 35" tires on and that would make me over the limit. If you can measure from the spring hanger I should be under but I don't think that is the case. Oh and by the way I am running the RE 4.5 extreme duty lift and 33x12.5 BFG's. I added a 1" body lift and new poly mounts and I now want to run 35". On something with 104" stock wheel base I wish you could go hire and be legal. I totaly understand about the mudflaps and the fender coverage. I wounder if there is a way to get the vehicle rated for a hire tonage than stock because I think that is how the lift law is defined. A 3/4 ton truck can have more lift than a toyota or jeep because they are only 1/4 ton. Does any of that make sense?

It's not just the lowest part of the frame. It's worded to be measured from the frame, and then in the definitions "frame" is defined as "lowest hanging longitudinal section of frame rail" which would mean on a jeep, the bottom of your center framerail.

On the tire situation it states that there is to be NO portion of the tire sticking out past the body or flare. You cannot increase your width by more than 6". ( I think that is right) And there is still the body lift thing, no more that 2" from the top of the frame to the bottom of the body.

We got rid of the width restriction (so you can run full-width axles on smaller rigs), you just need to keep the tires covered, and the axles need to be stronger than what they replaced.

You are right on the body lift, you can have up to 3", including the factory mounts, which means basically, a 2" bodylift.

well the thing that pisses me off is if you are from a state where the rules are diffrent, they don't even bother to see if you are legal in that state, they rite you up for what you didn't comply to in their state, but when you go get your rig inspected here in utah, they don't inspect it for Idaho or Cali, leave the out of staters alone, unless they are speeding/ committing a crime.

yea its a sore subject with me, I had it out with the fat boy in wellington a couple of years ago, prick looked strait at the plate that said Idaho and then tells me he thought it was a utah plate WTF, he said when I asked him which state my film was to dark for "utah, this is utah, I live and work in utah" Humm, I don't, and that is an Idaho plate back there. then he askes for the registration. Bahahaha, fawker.

I'm done now ;)

mine's a TQ too...but I'm still gonna license it

Mine is 26" to the frame. 2" to tall, but if a State Inspectior or Police Officer stops me and measures, I'll air down to 5 PSI and have them re-measure! I do love the added leienency (sp?) of the new law though, it is a big improvement. So I'm not complaining, really. Just stating!!!:D
