stagger start, go by the stop watch. start with 2 laps and best times move on...

we could go to the top of constrictore--where the rodeo was, and back down too even.....

Bradens idea is good in that it would be the safest. RS itself is twisty enough that speeds couldn't get into the ludicrous zone, and it would be easy to manage with GMRS radios. It lacks the go for the gusto baja road, however.

What I was thinking is this:

One complete lap is, say, 5 points. Extra points: Paint a line on the waterfall. If you scale the waterfall with all four tires to the right of the painted line, then you get an additional 2 points. RS Narrows: If you take the rocks to the right at the start, plus 1 point. If you take the bigger rocks to the right (where the tree used to be) plus 2 points.

In the RS narrows section, If you cause a rig behind you to stop and wait for, say, 5-10 seconds, you will be flagged by a referee at the mine tailings above and you will have to take the longer penalty loop. Otherwise you continue down the baja road in the usual manner. If you have rigs backed up behind you when you reach the bottom of the baja road (where you turn right to return to RS) then you will be flagged over and have to wait 1 minute. 4 volunteer ref's needed with radios to make it all work.

That would petentially give the last rig an advantage, wouldn't it? I like Braden's idea better. Maybe we could expand on that?

Not really. Sooner or later the "last rig" will be lapped and be in the middle of the pack again.

The problem with Braden's idea is there is no strategy involved. All the rigs will take the easiest line, and whoever is built (most $$$ bling) will probably win. If you use bonus ponts and penalties it mixes the entire thing up enough so that anyone with a good rig and some strategery (not a real word) can win!

not necessarily, look at the Avalanche races and who won them...Josh in his cruiser...not exactly a high bling rig ;)

I also think there should be classes, even after just driving my rig on 40s (well, ok 39.5") once, I found it is way easier and quicker than being on 35s and deffinitely then my bro (who was with me at the same time) on his 33s, its not even a comparison.

still keep it simple though, something like 36 and down by sidewall in one class and 37 and up in another and if you show up with a tire size larger than 36 but smaller than 37 then you get a beat down :D

I'd be down for helping "officiate" :p

Fine--different trail, same trail, whatever. I'm just in for some fun, close to home. :D

One idea I had when reading through some of the "how do we time this" posts, is to have a judge ride along with each driver. He/she carries a stopwatch for timing, and maybe some way of keeping track of the penalties also. (like one of those clicky people counters or something)

Your turning a Rock Crawling trail into a Baja Trail... :-\

Find a different trail for your run.

Huh? Why?

That's why I was originally thinking of having RS for the crawling and the baja road for the bajaing.

I guess my only concerns are the amount of impact racing through RS would cause, and the amount of attention it would draw if we tried to do this under the radar.....
