How's it going guys? Just picked up an 87 4runner for $500. It runs (after some work of course) and is pretty decent! I was a tech for Honda for a while. So working on vehicles isnt new to me..but Toyota's are something new for me. So far its been easy to work on..but the power of it leaves alot to be desired! I've been trolling for a week or so and decided to join finally. Seems like a pretty good board to post on!

Hope to meet some of you guys out on a trail one day!

Also some thing I need if anyone has them let me know:
87 22re auto trans
any (cheap) recovery/emergency stuff (high lift jacks, tow straps/chains etc)

Thanks,

Dutch

The 22RE's are pretty simple, but aren't known for power. usually around 100 horse new unless the vehicle was an automatic--then you can usually figure on a 50% loss :ugh::rofl:

Anyway welcome! Get some gear and hit some trails! :D

Welcome aboard!

I recently added a simple 20'x2" strap and 15' of chain to my gear, picked both up at Home Depot. I also bought a couple D-rings from the nut and bolt place on 1800 S and 300 west (?) for pretty cheap. Take back some Christmas presents and go get a nice 30' strap from 4wparts or Tera or other fine sponsors, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the info. I got a "duffle bag" to start throwing some stuff in. Yeah I dont want to spend a ton on another "hobby" but I wanna do it right the first time..it saves money in the long run!
