Well I was on my way home from work couple of weeks ago and a 16year old girl decided to turn left in front of me and I Tboned her at 40mph, anyway this destroyed my DD dodge pick up. I sold my old rock crawler a while ago which was an 85 runner with alcans marlin crossover detroit 5.29's and 35's, because it was a little to much rig for a DD and was also a little to much for the type of wheeling i'm doing now. After the wreck I paid off my motorcycle with the money and found a 89 YJ with a 4.2 that had an electrical problem (battery wasn't getting charged) the people told me they could never figure out what it was. They were asking 3500 we got them down to 1700  brought the jeep home tinkered with it here and there and discovered that the only problem (with the charging system, it is a jeep after all) was a burnt fuseable link.

So i'm looking to give it a bit of lift, wanting to run 32's as it will just be a camping/exploring vehicle that will eventually get some ARB's for when I want to play a little harder.

I'm really thinking an SOA conversion would be best but might be a little to much lift and or make it a horrible DD as I work up at brighton ski resort year round and have to drive up big cottonwood on a daily basis.

I was also thinking about OME, the guys at mepco told me a 3in sky jacker would have the best spring rate and easily clear 32's, and the guys at 4 wheel parts tried to talk me into a procomp coil conversion which I considered until I read reviews on it.

Just looking for some input as I know nothing of the jeeps being a former toyota guy.

I've had great results from my 4 inch skyjacker with 32" BFG MT's. It flexes well and rides as good as can be expected of a short wheel base rig.

IMO Rubicon Express makes the best springs - coil or leaf. You will also be very impressed on how well they can make a YJ ride - no longer need the kidney belt! Their standard kits come with their own twin tube (made by Edelbrock) shocks. They come either 2.5 or 4", or the extreme series 2.5 or 4.5".

The 2.5" kit will clear your 32's with the mild running you plan on, they recommend 31's with it and 33's with the 4/4.5" kits. However, in heavy flex situations, the tires might rub without adding a 1" body lift.

RE's springs are very flexy and durable. When others are breaking after 4-8 months, RE's are still shining - even after years of abuse they still aren't even sagging, let alone breaking.

Either lift I can get you into for well under $1,000 (PM me for pricing).

ive got the military leaf skyjacker 4" springs and they have been great. Its comforting to know i have that extra leaf when i use them to ramp up rocks. They flex well but are stiff enough for a nice on road ride. I use it as a DD and its fine.

If you just want to clear 32's and don't plan to go larger in the future, I'd stick with a 2 1/2-3" spring-under lift. That'll create the least amount of other necessary upgrades (steering and slip yoke elimination), give you good ride quality and still good off-road ability when you get out.

As it happens, I have some really nice 2 1/2" YJ springs on the shelf for you. :D
