New Winch Rope

So a client of mine buys a lot of synthetic rope. I asked them to get me a price on some for my winch. What I got was this rope that you see.

It is 3/8 in size rated at a minumum of 17,500 lbs but it is either 65' or 85' long. The tag says 65' and the box says 85' so until I stretch it out I dont know. My question is this, if its 65' do I just make it into an extra length to have with me or spool it on? Same question about the 85' piece if it is in fact that long. It was free, so I like that.

I have asked for pricing in 100' lengths if that is the best length for this type of rope. What is your opinions on the perfect rope length?

Here is a link to the manufacturer's website:

The actually have a good illustration on how to fix and splice the rope.

I don't know the answer to that. Do you need more than 65' of rope? If yes, keep it as a spare. :D If no, spool 'er on! Can't lose either way. :D :D

Free is good.

Good to go if it's 85'. 65' maybe consider putting it on a short drum winch or using it as an extension.

I'm thinking the drum end uses something like a battery terminal end. Crimp it to the rope and bolt it to the drum. Then splice a loop and use a d-ring.

I and Jamesgeologist might be interested in a group buy for our ATVs. 50' of 3/16 is what warn is selling. Put something together and let me know as my cable is getting pretty haggard.

I have my pricing finally and it looks really good. PM me if you are interested. Of the thicker stuff I have to get a minimum of 600', for the smaller ATV size I can buy any length.
