Hi Everyone,

I just you had NOOB run today. Damn I'm sorry I missed it. I just moved back to Salt Lake City a few months ago. Grew up here. Just bought an Xterra Pro4X to get into some off-roading. I have done some in the past in jeeps but its been a while. And nothing too hard. Would like to learn more, go on a few excursions and get to know the RME community. What are some good places with nice trails to get started on near SLC or within a 100 miles so I can go and come back the same day.

Also when is the next NOON Run? I would definitely like to learn how to use my Xterra Properly.

thanks!

welcome. We are still experimenting with the Noob runs. They get better each time, sorry you missed us. That would have been the PERFECT event to attend. We are not sure when the next one will be. However, this past noob run was such a success that I believe we are all committed to another one in the future. We're still not sure when that will be, and how often we will be having them. Check in on this forum regularly to try to find more noob run info.

Kurt (cruiseroutfit) has created a great resource of books that outline places to go in Utah. If you are unsure of the legality of a road, assume it is closed to motorized vehicles until you check with the BLM. Here's the list of books:

Also, keep an eye out on the trip reports thread. It's a good way to find out what trails people are running, along with pictures of the difficulty of each trail. Additionally, there is a section on trail rides, events, recreation, and maps. Some of the descriptions of these trails could probably be cleaned up a bit, but they're a great starting place.

Welcome to the forum, to Utah, and all that this great state has to offer.

This saturday is National Public Lands Day (NPLD). There's a great opportunity to get out and meet some fellow wheelers, clean up our trails, and even go for a trail ride afterwards. There are a few threads poking around. I'll be out at five mile pass (5MP), just west of eagle mountain. You should definitely try to make it out.
