I wanted to pass this on, since we're close enough that we might be able to assist if needed.

Nick Socha Thread on POR.

For those that haven't heard, Nick Socha was severly injured at SuperCrawl when the vehicle he was spotting rolled over, onto him. He suffered a handful of major injuries and will be in the hospital for several weeks, recovering. He is at the LDS Hospital here in SLC, Utah. Nick & his family could use our help & support. His family is from California and they have been coming up here to visit & support him.

The guys on POR are having a Raffle to raise money for Nicks medical expenses. I'd encourage you to participate, if you would like to help-

Raffle Info

Marc Milner has been providing quite a bit of help... Marc, if you hear of anything that Nicks family needs & we can help, post it here. Finally, Nick is also registered on RME... he's one of us. Let's do what we can for the guy.

Thanks everyone!

If anyone wants to make a donation and does not want to go through the raffle, I have the information so that you can donate directly to a Wells Fargo account. The family is not asking for donnations, but has set up the account because many were asking. In Jim's own words (Nick's Dad)

Hi guys,

Just wanted to email you the info on the Wells Fargo Account setup for Nick. After visiting the downtown branch on Monday, I learned that there are 3 ways to use this
account.

First before I describe the ways let me say that this doesn't seem normal to me and
this is hard for me. Please make sure to tell people that we are not asking them for money but if they feel they would like to donate something, this is an alternative to sending flowers or something else. Also pleease let people know that their love, prayers,
and support have been plenty and that there is no pressure or expectations to donate.
This especially goes to you on the email list I'm sending this to. Please DO NOT take
this as a request to donate. I'm sending it to you few so that you can get the words out
to people WHEN/IF they ask. About 80% of the people who have called, emailed,
sent cards, or contacted us asked about this. I finally had some time to get it set up.

Personally I say buy the raffle tickets....ALL the $$ are going to the same place, but you get a chance to win some great stuff!!
On that note, I challenge the local vendors to add to the raffle booty.
FT has put up a chassis lets see what the rest of you got!! This is for a fellow wheeler/competitior, you guys can surely find it in your hearts and inventory to add to this!! -_-

I don't even know Nick personally, hung out in the parking lot at a comp is about it. BUT I hope if it was any of us that got hurt in another community, they would help us out. So..... Big thing is, a lot of us have driven or spotted in a comp and had a close call. It could be any of us in that hospital!!

Anyone that wants the account info or info on how do donate to the raffle can either contact me or DSI on PBB

Marc

(yea, I said something nice about FT....This is for Nick, it supercedes personal BS)

I know there is a little tension between us FTM guys and a few boys on the board but nick is a fellow wheeler... I would hope that if anyone in the comps got hurt that the community would be there as a whole and not let politics interfere. I havnt personally met nick, but have met his family thorough all this and know him to come from good stock. I wish him as speedy recovery as possible.

Did someone get a radio/CD player up to him?
Yep, U4WDA got him a coooool boom box, at thanks to Monkey boy we got him the two songs that he uses to get himself hyped up.

His dad said it actually helped a LOT.

Thanks to all

Marc

PS as for an update, I talked to his dad last night, things are still going good, looking to move him to a lower level icu room. Nick is more coherent, but still a little wacky from the meds. But his sense of humor is coming back.

There were 2 songs his dad wanted for him, that Braden got for me to burn (Eye of the Tiger and Thunderstruck). That was for when he was still out....Now because the radio Brett picked up has a  remote, he is using the radio. I am sure anything you might want to burn would be cool. His little sis said he likes punk (neo-punk) and his dad said a little country too. I burned a few of mine....

Just an update from Nick's Dad.

"Just had a few minutes and wanted to say hi. Just cause we're out of Utah doesn't mean you are out of mind. We really appreciated you and all the guys behind you providing the support you did for us. You and your group are the best.

As you may have picked up from the update thread, Nick is now at home healing until his bones can bear weight. Mentally he doing very well being back in familiar territory with family caring for him. He has had several friends stop by to visit which helps keep his spirits up.

This Wednesday is his first orthepedic doctors appointment locally. We had to take him out on saturday for a full suite of Xrays for this visit so the doctor can make a full assessment. Wow, hard to believe that wednesday will be 1 month since the accident.

Got to go. I hope things are going well with you and your family. Tell everyone we said hi and thanks again.

Jim and Family"

To add to your post Mark,
Pete just called and said that Nick is really doing alot better and his spirits are high. His hand still has little/no movement due to all the ligament damage.
The doctors expect a 90% usage rate once his hand has healed and the physical therapists are finished. Pete wanted to say thank you for everyones help and support and I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you who where able to help them out at SuperCrawl. Especially the customers and friends of FTM and the board who were able to shuffle their family and friends to the hospital and unfortunately miss what they paid good money for.
