Nitrogen Gimmck

I was visiting with my my neighbor the other day and he tolled me the last time he bought tires he got home and was looking over the invoice and saw they charged him three bucks to fill them with nitrogen. Has anyone ever heard of this? Normal air is 78.8% nitrogen anyways.

costco does this, they say it reduces the amount of pressure fluctuation with temperature.

Supposedly it doesn't fluctuate pressures with temperature changes like normal shop air does.
And, doesn't corrode rims like air.

But no, I wouldn't pay $$ for it.

yeah, shops are doing this more and more.

I've never had an issue with regular air.

A little info here... I have an uncle that works for a big trucking company and he says they saved a lot of money in gas mileage when they switched all their rigs to nitrogen. We have it in our Honda, just because that's what costco does...

Nitrogen is way stable at any temp. And by the way, it is not what puts bubbles in beer!

Airplanes have been doing it for a long time....
On a sports car with big wheels and little tires, I could justify it. But on something you air up and down it is not needed....

The pressures nitrogen is stored at is extremely dangerous for OBA. It's not like CO2, which is a liquid. I wouldn't ride anywhere near On Board Nitrogen.

The safety depends on the container its stored in. In a proper container nitrogen should be just as safe as CO2.
