Anyone have any experience with the Nitto Terra Grappler? Seems like a good tire for the money, but wonder how they really run off road and on the highway.

Something I overheard from a competitor running Nitto's at SC3.
" Maybe if we pour water on them they'll stick better. "

alright, one negative vote. Any thoughts on Toyo Open Country AT? See alot of them around, reasonable price but don't look like a very agressive tread. How about Pro Comp all terrians?

What are you looking to use your vehicle for, what kind of terrain will the tires be in? I have heard of some people that like the X-Terrains, but also others that dislike them. It all depends on what your tires will be mainly used for, highway, show, rocks, mud, sand, etc.

If you are going to be using them offroad, I would stick with a true and tested tire, you get what you pay for. IMO

sounds about right!

Kind of jumps back to a thread some one started several weeks ago that talked about the all around tire- mostly highway on the daily driver, but good enough on everything - sand, rocks, mud, ice, snow- the stuff we get to drive in living in Utah.

Just looking at the tread design, the Nitto terra grappler (where do they come up with these names??) looks like a good all around tire, but not one I have heard much about. Also reasonable price (about $120/tire in 265/75r16). Puts it in the same ball park price wise as Toyo open country a/t, wildcats etc

If you are planning on all different kinds of terrain/weather/etc.... get an AT to suit your needs. Muds and other meaty tires dont have the siping i think you're lookin for.
