No crank, no start condition 2019 Polaris Sportsman 450

So I just moved this thing around the yard enough that it’s warmed up. Went to start… flickering screen and it shows 5.8-6 volts on the screen. Check the battery with a multi meter and it shows 12.8 volts. Hook a jump pack to the positive batt terminal and the frame, starts right up and runs until I disconnect the jump pack… does as soon as I disconnect.

I tested a few different pos/negative posts on the chassis and they all test the same as the battery, until I turn the key. Those posts all drop to 5.8/6 volts as soon as I turn the key to on. Checked all fuses and solenoids.

Jump pack fixes all conditions as soon as it’s connected.

Bad battery? It’s a two year old battery.

Battery. Probably a number of bad cells won't let you pull the amperage needed for it to run.
You can check the stator by disconnecting it and looking up what ohms it's supposed to read to be in spec (they usually give you a figure +/- 100ohms) and technically you could check the coil the same way, but if it runs perfectly on the jump pack: it's likely the battery.

Yep. 100% bad battery. Vatozone load tested it and said they’d never seen one drop that far. Of course, the Vatozone girl was 13, so there’s that.

Why don’t I have a dirt bike? I’ve always wanted to ride the Stansbury Front trail but I’ve never had a decent bike for it. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t really think it will. The way my brain is oriented, I just need to see a road/trail for myself to be satisfied. I don’t have much desire for a bike, I just need to see that trail, and I ain’t gonna walk it.
