No insurance card ticket

FWIW, I got pulled over a few years ago because the computer said I didn't have insurance, I showed them my card and he said his system probably hadn't updated. I only had the vehicle a couple months when this happened.

Right. That's why they usually don't check and just write the ticket if you don't have a card. To avoid wasted time of false negatives if you actually do have insurance, but don't have your card.

OP, like has been said, contact the court and they'll ask for proof. Then they'll drop the ticket, sometimes with a small administration fee.

Really? Thanks for the obvious.

Clearly, it was not obvious to you. :)

It just kills me that they think they can charge $400 for something so petty compared to the many other items on this other paper, showing all the fine's rates, that he gave to me. Speeding thru a school zone is cheaper! Not having insurance at all is the same fine as not being able to prove it($400).

Penalties are in place to encourage certain behavior and discourage other behavior. I'm glad the penalty for not having insurance is high, and the penalty for not having proof of insurance should be as well.

If the LEO issued you a cite for "No Proof of Insurance", chances are it will not be dropped and you will have to pay the fine. If he cited you for "No Insurance", you would be able to show the court proof that you had insurance on the day of the cite and you could have it dismissed.

When I stop someone and find they don't have a current insurance card, I usually cite them for "No Insurance". I do this so they get the insurance card in the vehicle and then they can get the ticket dismissed.

On the ticket it was for 'No proof of insurance (no current ins doc in vehicle)'. I got my insurance co to fax the court a copy of proof of it today. They are going to dismiss it.
