Here is the system, chevy saginaw pump with additional reservoir, to toyota ifs box, to 1.5x8 hydro ram.

Turning passenger (ram pulling in) the system is quiet no matter how fast I turn the wheel.

Turning driver (ram pushing) the system is noisy if the wheel is turned fast. Turning the wheel slow is fine.

It seems as though turning fast driver with the ram pushing is requiring more flow than the pump can handle, or more than can flow through the gearbox.

It shouldnt be a pump issue, my crew cab has the same pump with a 2x10 ram and no issues.

What is causing the noise?

Normally noise is caused by air. If you've been driving this for a while, that probably isn't the issue.

Might be a lack of flow. Did you happen to drill out the orfice in the pump when you installed the ram?

OK- Retarded!

What looked like a bend in the 5/8" hose dropping from the reservoir to the pump, was a kink. Pump was getting starved.

Problem solved.
