hm... that's an idea too. I think plasti-dip would be easier to remove when all is said and done. I'll have to give it a test on one wheel.

so that begs the next question... which color to paint the wheels...

What would look best on a black 4runner with black wheels?

I'm a HUGE fan of rustoleum painter's touch.

Powdercoat them. Have the guys at Armor Coatings blast them, and coat them. You will not regret it. Hundreds if not thousands of colors to choose from..

I think a lighter gun metal color would be a great color.

There's a black Disco I see downtown running around with dark red steelies. It's hideous. I vote you don't do that.

I'll be over at Armor today picking up some goods, I'll ask them what they'd coat your wheels for.

Cool, I'd appreciate that.

I'm pretty sure it'd be cheaper to just find another used set of silver wheels. I'd have to dismount tires, sandblast it, coat it, remount, and balance tires. I like a good looking truck, but I'd rather put the money towards something else (unless it's uber cheap).

besides, i'm bound to scratch the wheels up again in the future it'd be nice to be able to touch it up with some spray paint instead of worrying about powder-coating them again. With the design of these wheels, the spokes stick out a bit and like to get snagged on rocks.

I didn't read all of these. this may have been mentioned. Media blasting. I know that was mentioned. But with media blasting they can srip the rim, move to a finer media, and start cleaning up the the rims. They can actually polish the rims to a mirror finish with media blasting. I had it done on a set of Jetta rims. Looked great. They even sprayed the rims with a varnish to keep the shine. Just my $.02 worth.

But that can they do that with the tires on?

I think they can. Mine were off. If I remember right they can dial down the media and pressure to take the varnish(paint) off of a coke can. The guy that did my rims is no longer in business. Not because it didn't work. Well he like to cady up his nose.:ugh:
So yes I think they can do it with the tires on. At least to a point.
