I just read through that :( I think the dude needs a chance to defend himself. I'm not overly familiar with the Bountiful "B" and the area that surrounds it--who own's that land? In Cache Valley the SV, P, NC and a few others are actually on private land.

If thats not the case and it is what it cleary looks like we all are going to feel the impact in the long run...

He says he's at the 'B' right above Bountiful.

Legally this maybe ok but my opinion is if you want to beat your junk go to mmp or little Moab. This is a very high traffic area the home owners below would love to have this area closed off and this is giving them more ammo.

I don't know what kind of defense you could have.

Even if this was on private land and legal, posting up something like that would still be irresponsible. Just the type of photos that certain groups like to get ahold of to show how destructive we are.

This even makes it worse.

Mark Hudson. TLCA. # 1862900
U4WDA # 8644 Wasatch Cruiser # 91

Club members and Association members should know better than this. Even if it's not you he is with you.

Bummer.

In his defence...

I am simply saying that there can be two sides to a story. If it is private land and the landowner gives permission and is okay with bushwhacking then so be it there is nothing we can do or say. Like I said most of the letters here in Cache Valley are on private land. I used to ride my dirtbike all over the NC above Richmond and the land owner/friend said he was fine with it as long as it wasn't on Sunday (ha ha) and we didn't deface the Letters. People complained about the noise so we just stopped riding there out of respect for others...

That being said it would really help the community if they could provide that information in the trip report so the rest of us don't jump to conclusions. Given the area this does not seem legit :-\ Does anyone know who owns this land? If this is what I think it is I'm going to be pissed

There have been a lot of posts like this in the last few months the Price trails come to mind... It might be best to have a sticky or something in trip reports that states 'Do not post pictures of vehicles off the main trail or bushwhacking unless there is provided information that it is in fact private land with given permission' or somthing to that effect... Maybe I'm noticing it more, but it seems that this is happening too much lately.

Why can't people just have a little common sense?
Why can't people just have a little respect? Not only for the law, but for their fellow 4 wheelers and also the land? There are plenty of places to test your equipment without having to tear up the countryside.

I say again, even if this was legal, which I doubt, it still is totally irresponsible and hurts us all.

There's no other side to this story. The guy is a pro-SUWA, anti-motorized recreation, trail closing idiot for a) doing that and b) posting the pictures online.

I dont think so. see my statement...I admit I was in the wrong, I have wheeled here 3x now, and there were already tracks going up that as you can see no one else made it past where i was.

Reguardless, i deleted the original thread and admit now that I was wrong, sorry

there were already ruts going up it...and right above the B i thought that area was a "free range" I guess you could say.. .where as everywhere else up there(old ward, Sky line dr. and the road up over the top of bountiful that goes to the right, tive seen plenty of places up there that would be plenty of fun on a jeep, but i never went on them.

When i say "trail" im not talking about a long road. i meant a place line above the B that has been previously attempted.

like I said though. I was obviously in the wrong and my line of thinking was way off.
