U4WDA NPLD Warm-Up Project: Black Rock Canyon: 9/22/2012

Warm up for NPLD (National Public Lands Day) with U4WDA as we remove 4300' of fence.

This year's project is hosted by:
BLM SLC Field Office
U4WDA

When
: September 22, 2012,
  • 9am meet at the bulletin board "B" on map (40.047766, -112.271353) located at the intersection of the road to Blackrock Canyon (from Hwy 36) and the road from 5mp.
  • 9:45am -safety meeting, direction
  • 10-2 Get 'er done!
Where: Blackrock Canyon in Tintic Mountains

What: Fence removal.
Who: The BLM and U4WDA are looking for 8-10 volunteers to help out with the project. Invite your friends & family. 16 and older please.
Tools:


  1. Fence pliers
  2. Heavy wire cutters
  3. Linesman pliers to twist fence connections
  4. T-post pullers (2 provided)
  5. Branch cutters / saws
  6. gloves / safety glasses
  7. long sleeves/pants recommended
  8. ATV & trailer for posts (provided)
  9. Wire roller (provided)
What Else: Bring lunch and drinks and weather appropriate clothing.

I would love to do this especially since I've never been up that canyon yet. But I don't think I'll be recovered enough from surgery to participate.

at this point just me... unless I can get someone to come along... being an electrician I have a couple pairs of linesmen pliers that I can bring and wire cutters.....

boy that map really helps alot... first rule of map reading is put a reference point in there....
But at least if you click on the box with the - sign in it it will zoom out and after a couple of clicks you start to see where this point is.... hint hint....
