Alf, go search the wrecking yards. Find an old AMC Hornet or similar model with air conditioning. It will have the compressor, brackets, and pulleys that you're looking for.

As far as tanks, a 6"X18" just inside the frame rails behind the T case is what I had.

On TJ's there are two really good places that come to mind. First being right under the master cylinder and the second being right behind the Tcase on the drivers side - right by where the brake line comes down.

I've already got a tank and a 12v. compressor just trying to figure out where to mount everything...going off of memory and an eyeball measurement I'd guess the tank is 10"x 24" or so I was told if was used on a lowrider airbag system

Wow, that's a huge tank. Only place I can think to fit a monster like that would be behind the back seat. I think I'd be looking at a different tank.

Which compressor did you get? I'm running the Viair 550C, just because it was an easy install, and I'm a lazy buggar.

You'd have better luck finding a spot to put it if it were smaller - say 6"x16" or so. I've also seen people use smaller fire extinguishers...

I have a viair tank. It's mounted underneath on the driver's side behind the transfer case. (as Wayne said). It's just opposite of the muffler.

my electric compressor is mounted under the hood on the passenger fender.

I hope you get a BIG compressor cause they are damn slow.

Since you have the same setup as me, your'e welcome to come see mine.

A few months ago, I saw 12v compressors at Harbor Frieght for dirt cheap. They look just like the Viair's. Something like that someone could pick up two for under a $100 and run the air tank. I think that would work pretty good. Good recovery, etc. With one pump it's pretty slow...

I mounted mine on the Cruiser in the same location as Bob's. As BC said, that tank is huge, if you run a york system the tank can be much smaller making it easier to mount. I have picked up takes from semi truck wrecking yards for cheep.

I have an ready air electric pump and about the same size of tank as you are discribing. All I can say is, plan o it taking some time to fill up that tank and recovery time is very slow. York's rule when it come to OBA, and I don't even have one.

Okay...I measured the Tank and its 8"x26" It wont fit above the tcase because the muffler is in the way on the drivers side. It will fit running along the passenger side though and the bottom sits flush with the bottom of the frame rail so i think thats where it's going to go.

the compressor is a Thomas

I'm thinking I'm going to dig around a bit and see if I can find a york and the mounts for my 304

I just looked at the specs of the compressor you have. My Viair is rated at 3cfm, and is somewhat slow still. Your Thomas is rated at 1cfm. I think you'll be very disappointed in it's performance.

You're lucky where you're running an AMC (I don't think I've ever said that before). Everything you need is sitting in a wrecking yard near you.

I agree I've just read varied reports of the compressor taking from 5-12 minutes to fill a 5 gallon tank. So I think this comp will be mounted on my Camp trailer to fill the kids inflatable toys for the lake;)

I also just checked out car-parts.com and found a ton of these yorks so i should be able to find one under $50:greg:

Read up on www.kilbyenterprises.com about them. He talks about which to look for, since there are different flavors of yorks. They've the got small 4 cylinder version, and then the big block... ...You want the big block :D lol If I remember right, it's a difference of 7 to 10 cfm, or something like that.
