Obama's "Stimulus Bonus"

So I've been reading about this joke of a stimulus bonus Obama is doing this year and have come to the conclusion this is the dumbest idea I've ever seen.

With that being said, is there anyway to refuse this stimulus? Currently the only way my wife and I can break even on taxes is to both claim zero and have an additional 22 bucks taken out a month for taxes. I really don't want to owe again next year, and it seems this stimulus might make that happen.

I read this little snippet on cnn.com today.

In other words, the husband would receive $600 at his job and the wife $600 at her job, for a total of $1,200. Since they're only entitled to $800 total as a couple, that means they would have to pay $400 back to the IRS -- or see their refund reduced by that amount.

I could really care less about an extra 10-15 bucks a check, and honestly won't even notice it anyway.

So can I do something to avoid being paid the bonus?

With past stimulus deals they will deduct the amount from what you owe and now issue a check.

Yes, that is exactly what I thought. The president sits at his, with one of those green glass desk lamps with a number 2 pencil and a notebook. In this notebook lies his to do list with little check boxes next to each item. After he completes one item, he checks it off. According to the previous page, closing land issues is about #7 on his enviromental checklist.

He has 35 other notebooks all dealing with separate subjects and problems, each with similar to do lists. So as you can see, it might take him a while to get to the land closure to do item.:)

Yep, pretty dumb, but it was on his list of things to do, right before the wilderness bill:rolleyes:

Just did a quick search and the only thing that I can find that happened in Utah from the signing of the wilderness bill, is that Zion National Park had additional "Wilderness" areas added.

Is that wrong?

Yes, because we are talking about the wilderness bill.

How does the stimulus bill have anything to with a wilderness bill again? I think I am missing how they tie together.

You are wrong. Because Obama signed a stupid tax bill, he is going to close the wilderness. You must not watch Fox news Brett.

I was just pointing out that you was defending Obama like crazy 4-5 months ago, now you don't like how its going, just ironic;)
But yes 10 bucks a paycheck is dumb, but I will still take it

FYI i wasn't defending him. I was noting how stupid it was to go completely overboard like the sky was falling.

So because I don't like one thing he is doing, that makes me not like how the whole thing is going? Makes sense, carry on.

and guess what... seeing that I get a veterans compensation due to injuried while on active duty military I do not qualify for this stimulus and if both the companies I work for start releasing more money into my paycheck I am really going to get screwed come taxes time... I might have to become unemployed before I go broke!
