The Red Rock 4-Wheelers has announced that the club donated $13,250 this year to a variety of Grand County organizations. Funding recipients for 2008 included Allen Memorial Hospital, the American Legion, Boy Scouts, Grand County Search and Rescue, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, the Grand County Food Bank, the Humane Society of Moab Valley, the La Sal Senior Center, the Moab Arts Council, the Moab Area Chamber of Commerce, Moab City Police, the Moab City Recreation Department, Red Rock Dirt Bikes and San Juan County Search and Rescue.
According to a news release from the Red Rock 4-Wheelers club, donation recipients are determined by recommendations made by club members. Several organizations that provide assistance during the annual Easter Jeep Safari receive annual donations, the news release stated.
The Red Rock 4-Wheelers also announced that the group paid $36,414 to the Bureau of Land Management, the state School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration, and the National Park Service for fees and permits required for the club to use the trails during Easter Jeep Safari and the group’s annual Labor Day Campout.
The BLM, which receives the lion’s share of the fees, uses them for local trail and facility maintenance and improvements.
