GM is dumping Pontiac. :( Stupid, stupid GM. Outside of the Corvette ZR1, Pontiac has the most exciting vehicles in the GM lineup: the G8, the Solstice...

RIP!!!

I really don't see a down side. I never did understand the logic behind calling three identical cars, manufactured by the same company, three different names. This aint the sixties anymore. At least back then they were a little different. R.I.P. Oldsmobile and Pontiac. Now, they just need to kill the whole GMC line and start building cars again, instead of trying to market the same old thing under a different name..

Well, if Chevy adopts the G8 in some form, sweet. And the Solstice is wicked fun to drive!!!

Other than that I agree. I just think GM should kill some crappy Chevys before they dump Pontiac. :( And yeah, they could kill GMC first too.

Have to agree with the post above. GM had Daewoo, buick, olds, chevy, Holden, pontiac, GMC, Hummer, Cadillac, saturn, Opel, Vauxhall and Saab all sharing the same platforms with only minor cosmetic changes.

After working in the auto industry for the last 18 years, it's pretty easy to see why General Motors and Chrysler have ended up where they are.

Jes*s they owned Lada!

So anyone have an idea of how much it costs to have the same vehicle with 4 different name plates on it?

Example: Saturn outlook = GMC Acadia = Chevy Traverse = Suzuki XL7

I believe they were able to get away with it in the past by offering more expensive models under a different badge and charging a premium for them. (bad example but here it is anyway) Chevy Cavalier and Cadillac Cimmaron were the same car but the Cadillac had leather and all the goodies and came with a higher price.

Solstice = nice looking car with not much hp. The rest of the Pontiac line all the same to me. Seriously. I have a hard time differentiating between a Grand Am and the GTO.

The G8 is a 400hp sleeper though. :(

And the Solstice is a hell of a handler, w/aftermarket support to up the HP.

I just lament the passing of yet another proud American marque, while GM keeps pumping out lame, boring cars. booooooring
