So I've found myself with a couple of old Coleman lanterns... The one I am working on is a model# 200A, supposedly runs on gasoline??? This model was made from 52'-83'. Parts are still readily available, I think all I need is the plunger assembly and some mantels...

So, my question is... Has anyone ever used one of the gasoline models? Safe? Premium or standard unleaded :hickey:

I have one I bought 15 years ago that runs on coleman fuel or unlead gas.

I also have a few older ones that are just for looks, don't use them. One of them rums on some sort of butane canister.

what color is the 200A you have?

I have one that is red and in excellent shape, it sits on a shelf in the family room:D .

Red... So have you used it much. I've heard some of the old Colemans are firebombs... dangerous to use? Though I've never heard of the 200A being that bad...

If you need parts (pretty reasonable too):

If your looking to become a serious collector (check this out  )

I have never used it. It was bought at a swap meet in CA 10+ years ago just because it was so nice, it still has the orginal globe with the sunburst on it. oh and I only gave 5 dollars for it.

Cool, so I need to get it to turn. Mine has the sunburst on the latern... I picked it up from the thrift store in Moab for $8. I noticed they sell on ebay from $10-$30 pretty regularly, I might pick up another if I find I like this one.

Hmmm......I should get you to fix mine. It's green and there's something wrong, just can't remember what.

I charge $65/hr for repairs... likely you could buy a new one... :D

But if you stop by one of these nights, we could tear it apart and figure it out

when I was little we used one just like what's in your pic. I bet my dad still has it around somewhere. Never had any problems with it being unsafe, and I do remember it running on gas :D

Then we had some like James is talking about, can run on the Coleman fuel or gas, we always used the Coleman fuel, I always remember the cans collapsing for some reason

There used to be a key shop on Social Hall Ave. in Salt Lake that did coleman repairs and had parts.
I don't know if they are still there or not.
They were there 6 years ago when I did maintenance at the Walker building.
I just looked in the phone book and they are still listed as a Coleman authorized service shop.

Thanks, I'll give them a ring before I mail order anything... I always like finding the local guru

It just spins like a crank to clean the whatever it cleans.

They will burn longer and brighter on white gas than on unleaded, also remember with white gas you can use it in an enclosed area as long as you have a place for air to get in but with unleaded you can NOT use it inside.
