Old coyote hunting vid

A little over 20 years ago, my buddy Tim and me decided to try and make a varmint hunting video. DVD's weren't even so common yet. We had the first 2,000 copies made on VHS tape . It was a different time and a different world back then. The second run of that first video were 2,000 DVDs, not VHS, a sign of how quickly things were changing.

But that first video actually made us some pretty decent money and we had an absolute blast doing it. So we kept making videos for awhile. Made four in all. It was a blast. Absolutely glad we did it. But I was also really burned out on it by the time we released the fourth one in 2007.

And 2007 just happened to be a really good time to get out of making and selling DVD's but especially coyote hunting DVD's. Our success inspired a LOT of guys to do what we were doing and a lot of them were making much better videos than ours by then (ours are all super amateurish). But none of those guys were making any money from it. Most of them called me while making their DVDs and then after. They all flat told me they were losing money. Too many of them all at once watered down an already dwindling (DVD) market. Youtube was starting to strangle all kinds of hunting DVD sales. No money in it anymore, I was burned out, time to quit. And glad we did, when we did.

Anyway... I had not watched any of them for quite a few years. Last weekend me and Tim were waiting out a snowstorm sitting in my LJ and watched one. I realized I ought to just dump them out to youtube.

So here is the last one we made. Released in 2007. Our best one, I think. I'll get the other three uploaded in the next month or so.

That’s awesome I bought a set of your DVDs years ago and I really enjoyed them. That’s really cool that they are on YouTube now

I remember when you ordered them! It was the first order I'd seen in a LONG time. I'd forgotten they still could be ordered! I took the old website down shortly after that.

Honestly, at that time, I looked at them, and I was kind of embarrassed by what a pair of yahoos me and Tim are. But now, I look at them, and I'm kind of proud of what goofballs we are  .

And we haven't changed much, except for aging. If we'd have been filming last weekend, it would have looked and sounded just like these old videos. Except we're kind of old farts now. Well, Tim's and old far now . I'm a distinguished older gentleman, myself. Somebody told me so at the last RME Bewilder meet and greet.

I watched the first montage to 2:45 or so and you had to have killed 20 coyotes. I can't even imagine the count after 90 minutes. 😳. For real though, you stopped making videos because you shot them all for the DVDs right?

Nah... The coyotes on that video represent only a barely measurable percentage of the coyotes I've killed. Imagine a montage like that, but 4 hours long.
