Old Man TJ Lift question...

Ok, I have an older friend who has had a TJ "Wrangler X" for quite a while. Inline 6 and a 5 speed...

While "out driving a rocky dirt road" he broke his sway bar...

Anyways, long story short, this rig will see 90% pavement, 10% "rocky dirt roads" and he wants a "lift" for 31"-32" tires.

I am pretty sure the "x" model only has a dana 35, so I am I hoping a unlocked 35 will handle 32"s ok...

All of this being said, I am thinking a budget 2" coil spacer and sway bar disconnects and let him enjoy it. In that I am hoping to avoid extended brake lines, driveline modifications, body trimming, etc...

Am I thinking wrong?

Any recommendations?

Let me know your thoughts... :D

Sounds about right to me.

I ran a Rocky Road budget boost on my LJ for the first two years I had it until I was ready to build it for 35's. No complaints.

sounds about right. Will JK spacers work on a JK? I have a set. For a little more money look at old man emu lift. Dana 35 should be ok with 32's for dirt roads. My good friend in Reno ran 35's on a 35 for years on some pretty tough trails.

We had 33's on a friend's TJ with the 2" spacers from Tera. At full flex and full steering they rubbed a little so we eventually added a 1" body but that would certainly not be necessary for 32's or the type of use you describe.

I've seen a lot of guys make 33's work on a TJ w/2" spacer lifts. Bumpstop it if you have to and it will work. But, 32's would work better.

On mine, it came stock from the factory with 31's. After adding bumpers, winch, sliders, tummy tuck etc., I used the Rocky Road BB to counter act the sag from all the added weight. Had a 1.25 BL too, now that I think about it - needed the BL to do the tummy tuck. But here are a couple pics of my LJ on that setup, still on the stock factory 31" tires.

Sometimes, I actually kinda wish I'd have just left it like that. It got me pretty much everywhere I needed it to go and it would have been soooooo much cheaper!
