I wheeled an XJ with 2 inches of lift and 31x10.5's for a year. I did okay with it, but was held back by lack of flex. You had to really work hard on picking just the right line. I was open too. My buddy had a tera 4" setup from the dealer with 32x11.5's and did a whole lot better for hardly any more money. just make sure to take off the rear sway bar completely and get disconnects for the front. And with all the bolt on's you want, I wouldn't go with anything less than 4 - 5 inches with 32's. Anything else would look funny. Just my opinion.
call rocklogic4x4 ( www.rocklogic4x4.com ) they sell them and they are local...I dunno prices but I am sure they are good...

Yea, I have also heard that the OME stuff is really nice. Nice ride, Nice flex, but like super said not enough hieght. Although you could go with the OME and then some spacers and a lift shakle to get the hieght that you want.

I'd suggest going with the 4.5" in case you get tire inchitis, at least get the adjustable lower control arms

I have OME on my xj and I wouldn't touch anyone elses crap. OME is vastly superior quality and ride than stock. It'll turn the ride of youre xj into something more like a zj limited. Throw on some 1.5" shackels and spacers in front and you'll wheel like a monster and ride like a cadilac.

Why the roof rack??? its a frickin station wagon, what do you plan on doing that you need more space? The only roof racks I have seen on xj's are for posing purposes only. Many of the roof racks make a lot of noise at highway speeds.
31's on stock rims will rub like mad without a rear swaybar. Your will also rub a lot on the lower control arm unless you get some special ones.
31's are pushing the gearing on an xj as well. If you have a auto and the 4.0 you might not mind much though.
You'll want and SYE for highway travel if you go higher than 3 ro 3.5 inches (personal oppinion) Thats why OME doesn't make a taller kit. If you use their 2.5 inch kit and 30 9.5's you will have no problems at all with any performance of the vehicle. More than that and you'll either start having lots of problems or have to invest huge money to get it working right. SYE, R&P etc...
You forgot the locker! Open diff rigs are ok for training good wheelers but if thats not the goal its just about posing
In the end, xj's rock. They are an awesome all around platform for wheelin and everything else

Lockers are in the works, but I'm not going to convert the standard axles over. I'll just eventually buy the built up axles. I've already had my fun doing new gears in the Samurai I had before and my brain still hurts even after a year. I'm not cheap, but I AM a tightwad

I'd go RE 6200 (5.5 Extreme)
The roof rack is because when we go camping, we take three kids, a protable crib (for the 6 month old) beds, sleeping bags, the dog who's medium sized, and with all the gear, it crams us together, and I got the rack for cheap ($100) so why not? It ceases to be fun when it's that uncomfortable. Plus this year, we're hoping to do some fishing as well Fishing poles in the back do not a good time make.

Here's the specific reasons it doesn't flex well. The control arms are straight pipe with the bushing pipes welded to the center of the arm. If you'll look at RE's kit you'll see that they offset the bushings at the ends, also note the poly johny-joint. The reason they offset them is because when the axle drops the arms will come in contact with the shock mounting plate. Take a look at you'r own jeep and you'll see what I'm talking about. So this limits the down travel of the front axle. Additionally, at the ends of the Tuff kit the poly bushings are only about 1/4 thick, not very wide, that doesn't give to much flex. The kits are cheap but they are only make the jeep look good and not much else. They don't come with discos and they use blocks. Us RME guys hate blocks. I think they have come out with a new spring that is a little softer so they ride all right.
Like Supergpr, I like the RE kits, I think the 6030 kit you picked out would be great for what you're looking for. A Skyjacker kit would be alright too but not worth the $ they want. Also if you're looking for a cheaper kit than the RE you could take a look at ProComp. They're much better, use a bent control arm. RE springs and don't cost a whole lot.
I still think you should go bigger.

don't take it personal but I have NEVER seen a roofrack used for hauling cargo on any vehicle this side of a touring van.
let me make this disclaimer.....MOST purchasers of roofracks use them for posing purposes on their SUVs. by your statement I am guessing that you use yours but you have to admit you are one of the few....
if poser is the worst thing I get called, then I think I can live with that. There's a lot worse things I've been called. Plus I like how they look. I'm all about making my life easier. I don't care what people think. Thanks for the warning though. Now I have some time to think of some very clever comeback when someone calls me names. )

with all them childrens you will probably put that rack to good use. I have a buddy that used to sleep on his when camping, he had a grand wagoneer with the 6' confer rack that attached at like 6 or 8 points or something....
just don't bolt a battle axe and a perfectly shiny shovel to it. at least take em and drag them down the street for a block or so to make them look like they get used
