let me make this disclaimer.....MOST purchasers of roofracks use them for posing purposes on their SUVs. by your statement I am guessing that you use yours but you have to admit you are one of the few....;)

Yeah, I agree. I sure like it though. Carries my skiis, sleds, camping gear, mountain bikes. Lots of stuff that I couldn't get around as easy. I really hate cold wet skiis inside my warm cosy jeep.<---That's me when skiis are inside my jeep.

Spence said it right.

I've never seen anyone use a roof rack but you've got it right. That's why you get a wagon, it'll take a ton of stuff and when its full inside you can hitch up a trailer or pile it on top. If I found a rack for $100 I would have one too!

I take the poser coment back with my appologies.

I've seen too many posers around, it makes me feel bad to see so many nice xj's go to waste.

As have I. Mine was free save the 60$ I paid for the mounts. Comes in real handy when you have it. You don't have to appologize, I wasn't offended.

I wouldn't think twice about buying from Rubicon Express. They have some really sweet setups. My buddy installed a 4 1/2 lift in a day or two in his auto class at Skyline. It flexes incredibly with the sway bars disconnected. He regrets not going bigger though. He runs 31's and I couldn't ever understand why someone with a smaller lift than his would run 31's, too small a lift and too big a tire. My 2 cents.

I've been reading all of this and would agree with OME not being tall enough......same with Tuff Country!!! I installed a Tuff Country 3.5 on my ZJ and only got 3 in the front and 2.5 in the rear!!!! RIP OFF...............I added a Tera 2 inch Boost and it sits at 5 in the front and 4.5 in the rear now. As far as the Tuff Country lift flexing........I don't know about the XJs, but look at this ZJ lift........

Tuff offers two different kits. A regular kit with lousy arms and an EZ flex kit like what is on your ZJ(looks like). The EZ flex kit for XJ's isn't too bad but it doesn't come with discos and it comes with blocks for the rear. Uck! Nobody likes blocks. I think they've got some pretty decent springs now, they should be progressive rate so they should ride soft.
Really if you were going to get a tuff kit for a jeep you should get the EZ flex arms, a full length add-a-leaf for the rear and discos. Then you buy the shocks seperate. By the time you get all that stuff you might as well but a RE kit.

sway bar disconnects are refered to as discos as short...they allow you to easily disconnect your sway bars to allow for more articulation...

Which is exactly what my ZJ is doing there.......its disconnected!! I made my own "discos" though......only cost me 25 dollars for the supplies and one hour of work. I don't have the EZ-Flex either........I just have the EZ-Ride.....the ZJ is a super flexy ride as is.......just think of what I'd be doing with Flex arms!!!!

Thanks folks for all the help. I think we've made the deciscion. We're going to get the 3.5" Rubcon Express, with the 31X10.5X15" tires. The BFG AT/KO tires which at 4 wheel parts on redwood has em for 113/each, which is about the same as I can get them on tirerack. I already bought the shocks (Doetsch Tech DT3000) now, anyone wanna donate to me about 565 bucks? hehhehe

Good choice. You'll do well. I wish you'd go higher but you'll still probably flex better than me.

Well, there's a couple of reasons why I don't want to. First off, is money. I know much higher then 3.5 and I'll have to worry about geometry and I've got to buy a bunch more parts AND deal with the headaches getting it installed right and all that. Secondly, as much as I've went off roading with my dad, I'm not all that experianced, and think maybe it'd be better if I was limited on where I could go. I'd hate to think I could do more then I really could and roll my truck. That'd ruin my day, and as it's my daily too, I'll be carless. I know it's supposed to be some tough manly thing to expect to roll your truck, but A: I'm not a man, and B: money doesn't grow on trees. Mike's really into the drag racing thing, and wants to get a turbo, so since he gets a turn with the finances too (makes sense as I don't work) I need to really think about money.
