I took a motor out of a 1989 mercury for the efi swap in my Bronco, the motor had an ac pump on it, does anybody know if I can use this pump for on board air?

Any ac air pump works. York compressors are best because of oiling issues. Ones like this will burn out quicker than others unless you and an oiler because they use the ac oil system to lubricate. That being said add a little oil on the suction side every now and again and if your not using it on a daily basis it will be fine. Oh and make sure you stick a filter on the suction side dirt kills these things quick.

If you're going to go to the trouble of fanning up brackets and stuff, I'd round up a York. They're not hArd to find and not too expensive.

It was already on the motor I put in my bronco so I won't have to make brackets. I'll hook it up and when it go's out I'll look for a York.
Thanks.

If you don't have to put any work into mounting, it might be worth seeing how well it works. Are you planning on a tank of some sort?

I was thinking of just putting a switch on the dash and running a hose right off the pump. Probably only use it to air up tires.
