OK....since my welder thread worked out so well  (I got great solutions, but no time/money to implement them, YET), I was thinking I should swap my A/C compressor over to use for air. I know some of you have done this, but I'm not using a York and want to know about the 'oiling issues' and anything else I need to figure out.

I have seen guys run an inline oiler, only problem is remembering to refill it, I would say you need to definetley run a high pressure cutoff switch also. (got mine from Airide Technologies) because an A/c comp will easily put out 400 psi. and be sure to run a good filter on the inlet side.

Marc - I plan on doing the same thing really soon. I basically want to run an open line from the compressor (no tank) and just have it switchable for use when I need to use it. Just really basic stuff. Do you plan on running a tank?

I'll try to dig up some info.

I don't know....my sliders or front bumper would work great for one, but is it worth the plumbing? Probably.......The one thing that I HATE about my ARB's is the compressor. I'd like to have the compressor available to drive the lockers, but probably use the ARB compressor to activate the lockers under normal circumstances.

I was just going to modify the current AC switch with a toggle or something and go from there.

That's basically what I'm looking at too. From what I have seen, most people are just oiling the compressor after every 3-4 uses (all 4 tire fill ups x 3), and catching the excess oil with an oil seperator down the line.

I think I might be making this harder than it is......(famous for that....) I've noticed the same thing about people using their Sandens--Yorks are the way to go, but I've got a bored Sanden, why not utilize it? I need to remodel my front bumper a little (probably start over) and I'll keep that in mind for an air tank.

I still want to do a 'ghetto' welder also.....

I definitely want to run a pressure cut-off and a filter. Airride.....looking up right now...

Hey i did the conversion on my wagoneer and it works great. I run two 5 gallon tanks at 100 psi. I got the info for my set-up of the IFSJA.COM homepage under the thecnical section labeled "What to do when your A/C doesn't work. Its very helpful and informative.
