Operation 40 + mpg is a go

I've toned my driving down on the PSD and the next time I buy tires I'll go down a size for sure. I get a big increase in mileage when I drive between 60 and 65 instead of 70 mph plus.

Ok Dom, I got a new record on one tank of fuel, thought I'd share with you. Check out the trip odometer. I kept my speed under 70 on the freeway, drove a lot of highway at 60, was cautious with the throttle and tried to keep A/C use to a minimum, (I ended up with about 200 miles w/ the A/C on.) I haven't filled up yet, so I don't know how many MPG I got. I'll report that when I fill up and figure it out. I ended up driving just over 60 miles with the 'low fuel' light on. That's about as far is I wanted to push it.

I could probably do better than 15mpg in my Dodge if I didn't drive with the chip on #3 and both feet flat on the floor at all times.

If you took one of them off the brake, you'd probably get a lot better mileage. :D

Diesel Power? or one of the mags tried to max their mileage in a 2wd Dodge, if I remember right the main thing was proper tune, and driving reasonably. I'll have to dig that issue out.

I want to know who VW hires to repair them. Got belt that is squeaking on mine and I can barely get my hand in up to my wrist on the top. :ugh: Maybe I can talk my 3 year old into replacing the Serpentine belt on it... :hickey:

It was Diesel Power, and they tested a 97 dually 2wd automatic. Cannot remember everything they did to it, but they claimed 31+ MPG....

With 265's, a five speed manual, 4.10 gears, staying under 55, and a very light foot i've managed 25mpg. I've got the VE pump 92 Cummins...

I have been driving my 89 cherokee 4.0 5 speed (205,000) very lightly, not going over 2000RPM, coasting to stop lights, and staying under 60 MPH, I went from 250 miles per tank to 400.
It is a very boaring drive to and from work but i figure im getting between 25 to 28 MPG, not bad.
maybe i should change the oil, its only been 3 years.
John can verifiy i did change the oil filter last year. and i did the air filter last spring.

I have a 96 ZJ with the 5.2 and I use it for work (boss pays the gas bill)... I have a 7 foot ladder on the top and when I have it up there I can get about 16-18 mpg on the freeway at 70 but when i take the ladder off I can get upwards of 20-22 at the same speed...

A/C when I turn that on I drop about 3 mpg on the freeway but if I roll down any window it drops even further due to wind drag...

Clean car... if the car is freshly washed I get about 1 mpg better mileage then if its dirty...

Speed... if I keep it under 70 mph I get better mileage then if I go faster for sure!

These are a few of then things I have noticed that help increase my mileage...

I used to get 22-24 mpg on the freeway in my dodge at 75+ mph.

My current car is getting about 27 mpg.....I wish it would get more like 35 but I guess the lower milage is the trade off for driving an italian bred racing machine.
