All,
Operation On Target is this Saturday July 18th. This is a perfect opportunity for everyone to get out and go wheeling.
It's a Boy Scouts of America activity where you get to the highest point you can (typically a mountain top) and use signal mirrors to bounce light back and forth creating what is referred to as "a connection" from peak top to peak top. Hence the name Peak to Peak as it is more commonly know. As of yet they have not connected from the northern border of the USA to the southern border, but when they do it will be put into the Guinness Book of World Records. A couple of years ago it was just a couple of "connections" short. Northern Utah was where the break occurred.
This is a perfect opportunity for us as 4x4 and wheeling enthusiasts to get out for a trail ride. There are lots of trails that lead to peak tops, so if you can, please get out and take a mirror with you. You don't have to have a nice glass shop quality mirror. One from your rig will suffice or you can pick one up from just about anywhere. Glass shops will typically donate a piece of scrap if you ask them.
Just thought I would let everyone know so you can have a legitimate excuse to get out this weekend.
"Connections" typically don't start lighting until about 11:00, but being on top for the sunrise is about as beautiful of a start for a great day as it gets.
Here is a link if you are interested.
