Opinion - 84 Scrambler for sale - vintage or no vintage

I am thinking about selling my 84 scrambler. It's built with 5.0 EFI Ford engine and D60's. I have dreaded the yearly safety and emission because of the modified engine I have to visit the health inspector directly for a test (which I always pass).

The question I have is now that it's officially 30 years old, should I get the vintage registration done before I sell it?

Thanks!

After talking with the local DMV office about this for the Unimog, it looks like there isn't much advantage until 40 years. Basically they told me that at 30 years, you still pay $60-70 per year and the safety inspection still must be done. The registration only goes down to $10/year with no safety required at 40 years. If someone has better info, I'd be happy to hear about it...

My brother just went vintage on his 84 Scrambler as well. He walked in with a title and walked out with plates.

I just got my Grandma set up with Vintage plates on her '83 BMW 320i. Have to do safety one last time, then no safety, no emissions. Just mail in the check and get new tags. You are limited in milage per year, but thats negligible for most vehicles that will get these tags. I'm counting the days until I can do it on my Samurai!

Haha! It will get better when I actually post it for sale. I wasn't sure where else to ask the question.

i just did the same thing this year for my 83 Toyota truck, walked in with just my registration renewal form, and walked out with the plates, it was a great day!

Hidden? Ha ha! I am really just looking for a reason to jump. I might need a small nudge off the edge.
