computers are different to get into the bios. Some are F1, some F2, some use DELETE, compaq uses F10. You have to press it pretty early, if you ever see the "starting windows" it is too late.

Did you ever disable it in the bios?

I honestly can't remember... I disabled them somewhere but I can't say for certain it was in the bios. When I opened the bios, they were already enabled. However, I really think it was somewhere else... the place I remember had options for both the touchpad AND the pointer, as well as their buttons.

i just read.. Dell laptop, so F2 like Brad J said should work to get into the bios

If it is enabled there, it must be a windows setting. I have a Dell laptop in front of me and I can enable/disable in the control panel -> Mouse

Have you poked around in there?

I have... I'm 95% sure that is where I was able to enable all the mice before, but not the only one it has in there is the "HID compliant mouse" (in the hardware list).

Thanks again for all your help!

Still having trouble with it disabled?
Have you disabled it in Device manager?

right click My Computer --> manage --> device manager --> Mice and Pointing devices right click on the one you want and enable/disable it.

I accessed the device manager through the control panel, but neither way gives me an option to control them. It only shows the "HID-compliant mouse" which I assume is my USB mouse.

Just one... its an Dell Inspiron 8600.

Just before I swapped the keyboards, I tried it re-enable the other two mice to see if they were still acting up. I couldn't find them then either, so I'm certain my issue has nothing to do with my keyboard install. And, the keyboard swap didn't have anything to do with the touchpad... and I can't seem to enable it either :(

Re-booted with the mouse un-plugged... its still didn't recognize the built ins. Time to start transfering data in prep for a re-install! :D

I think that this is what you are already doing, but have a look here anyways. can you determine if you are using the Alps or Synaptics software?

I followed the link, entered my service tag number, and the only driver for the mouse that came up is the Alps setup. I re-installed that driver yesterday, I' just re-downloaded it again. I'll reboot and report back :D
