You can pay an expedited fee. Can't remember how much it was, something like an extra $50-$100. Either way, I'd be down at the office getting it started tomorrow.

I ordered a passport non-rushed over 3 months ago and I still haven't seen it. I'm more than a little frustrated with USPS, they always seem to lose things when I ship through them.

I just got back from japan. My passport only took 3 weeks through the logan post office or you can do it online. Make sure you take with you an approved photo and birth certificate.

I just recently renewed my passport. I did it at the local passport office at the post office. I did recieve my passport faster thanI expected, even though I did not pay the expedited price.

The fact that you can pay to have it expedited really frustrates me. How come I have to pay extra to have some government employee do his job faster? And what part of the process do I bypass to make it go faster? What happens to all of the other applications while mine gets expedited? And finally, what would happen if everyone paid to get their application expedited?

Maybe the extra money goes into the pocket of the guy that has to skip his morning coffee break to rubber stamp my renewal.

Good luck with your application! Hope the trip works out and you have a great time!

Granted it was 5 years ago, but it was during the change to needing a passport to go to mexico so things were crazy.

My wife and I looked online at the required documents, went to the Post Office by the Salt Palace, they have a guy that is all he does. Super fast, super easy, we had our passports back before we received notice that our requested for new passports had been received. :)

There is also some offices around that Post office that have people around the embasseys, (D.C./San Francisco) that will hand walk things through for a fee $$$.

You can get them renewed fast at the regional offices like Kurt said, just plan on an overnight and extra fees of course... A couple years ago I went to get mine in Houston hoping for their same day service. I got it all done by 11 A.M. and they said to come back tomorrow and pick it up. What killed me was that the next day a lady in line with me picking hers up got hers in an hour by crying up a storm, most like me are not that lucky. BTW, our experience with the expedited mail service was really great too, they seem to come in well under their quoted times. How would I know? well my wife worked for an airline and people were using her buddy passes all the time.
