So this turd named Sam get’s into my Paypal account and helps himself to $300. Not sure as to how. I did check all my computers for a keylogger and changed all passwords. Never found a keylogger, I’m thinking that he guessed my 7 digit password I caught this 20 mins after he got into my account. My account was locked down and I’ll get my money back within 10 days from Paypal. I do have some of his info and anything else that someone here could find would be great. Now Paypal is going to prosecute this little turd and I’ll be filling charges also. Got to love the message he left for me.

From the transaction:
Name: Bassam AlShehabi
Email: beez9@hotmail.com
Total Amount: -$300.00 USD
Subject: Steal
Note: I've just steal your money

So I searched the internet for that e-mail address and got this:

And from: http://www.thedirectory.org/cgi-bin/phonedb/lookup1.cgi

Other Info: cellular/PCS

So I have called/e-mailed him about this and no response. Again any help would be great.

YIKES!!!!

Did he actually take the money, or did you just receive an email saying that he did? Because I've received fake emails, something that looks like I paid them x amount. I never click on the paypal link in the email, I always type it into a new browser.

There are a lot of paypal scams out right now. I received one in my email this morning. Be careful and don't click on anything!! I hope they catch your guy though, good luck.

something seams fishy to me.....how could he hack into your account.....and why would he leave you a message? What are the odds he could just 'guess' your password?

You'd be suprised how easy it is to obtain info.

Does seem strange. I'm willing to bet that the guy you tracked down isn't the actual theif. I bet his account was compromised as well...

I'll put money that this isn't the case, most of the time your account will get locked if the wrong password is entered too many times, I know on here it's like 5 times. I think paypal is 5-10 times. He'd have to be a pretty good (i.e. lucky) guess to not know you and get your password in less than 10 tries. As crappy as it may be I'm willing to bet you made a mistake some where some how and he got your info from you.

Just stay on things, I hope it gets resolved. Thats a chunk of change to loose :(

Some people use the same password for ALL of their accounts. His password could have been guessed or cracked at a completely different location, somewhere less secure.

I have multiple passwords for everything. It takes 10 bad password entries on Paypal to lock a account down. I did send a e-mail to that account that my money went too. No responses back. Sure that account could be (a) False or (b) stolen. Paypal will return my money as soon as they get the affidavit in the mail. Now someone could guess a Paypal password by trying 9 times a day. I now use WEP code type passwords for my accounts.

Unless your 7 digit password was something like 1234567, then I doubt it was guessed. Were you phished? Did you click on a link in an email "from" paypal to log into your account recently?

my cousins account was hacked 1.5-2 years ago and they helped themselves to 1500 or 2500 (I forget the amount), from his bank account that was tied to the paypal account. I think that the first hack was his ebay account, which was tied to his paypal account.

It was because of this that I set up an account at my banking institution just for paypal, and I have a zero balance in it, when I receive funds to the account, I transfer them within the banking network to a safe account that is not tied to anything, no credit card, no checking, plan old savings account, and nobody but I knows the account number, not even the wife.

Youd be supprised how easy it is to get that type of info.
I have a BS in Network security and in school we learned how to do that sort of thing so we would know how to protect against it. Its scary easy.
