Here are some photos that I took in 2002 of some rock walls in a hidden canyon on the Swell. Thought I would share. :)

Some are VERY faint. And on other, some moron decided it would be a good idea to outline them... Still cool though.

This canyon was completely filled with them... there are quite a bit of artifacts laying around too. Not to be disturbed of course.

Anybody recognize these symbols? They are newer than the indian petroglyphs, obviously. And they were in the same canyon.

The crosses look like maybe Spanish Explorer'ish?

The others are very much newer... see carved date.

The ones with the date look to be from cattle ranchers, symbols are most likely brands.

The one that looks like an "A" with a cross above is different. Could it be Spanish? Anyone seen one like this before?

These might just be ancient grafitti from an old desert gang. Now days they would have to pay a fine and clean them off. Of course spray paint wont last as long as these ancient ones.

Someone was telling me that they outline them in chalk when they study them so they can see them better and the rain will wash the chalk off. It could have been a justification for it...but it made sense to me. I've always loved that Matt Warner one...maybe because it is more recent or something...probably because I always thought Butch Cassidy was cool when I was a kid, ah who am I kidding I still think he was cool
