Photographer Needed

I have done them. I was a assitant to a very high $$$$ wedding photographer in and just out of high school.
No one can pay me enough to do that again!
I DO NOT have the people skills for weddings....I was even drunk at mine so I could deal with it

Seriously, it takes a special person to deal with the Mothers and the Bride. Everyone is so high strung and worried about everything being perfect....It is a nightmare!

I'll stick to shooting motorsports and landscapes

i come from a long line of photographers.. i cant take a pic if my life depended on it.

but my mom, brother, sister, sister uncle, uncle, aunt, and another sister all do it.

kiddie candids is my uncles store in the mall.


call my mom kristina wilcox she will do it for you or send you to one of my other family members.

thanks for the replies. I never hear good things about the photographer when people talk about pictures from their weddings. To me its not a big deal, i would have rather eloped anyway.

I will call her and see what she has to say.

On a side note, any one i am supposed to stay away from?

Just make sure you get estimates up front and see a portfolio.
Any good photographer (including amateurs) should have a portfolio.

Have someone take candid shots just wandering around the reception. That's one of my biggest regrets from our wedding, no candid pics.

Stay away from Applegate (I think thats the name) Photography. Our pictures all turned out terrible and even my wife's bridal pictures turned out terrible. They were so dark that you couldn't even see her in them he also only tok about three pics at our reception and then left...

He may not be in business anymore though this was about 4 years ago and with his quality of pics I dont see how he could stay in business.

The best way to get a photographer is like you are doing, from personal reccomendations. Anyone (ok, just about anyone ) can put together a nice looking portfolio but to have customers that are satisfied and would reccomend them is another thing all together.

I could do the candid shotsn but, like Marc, I tend to stay as far away as possible from weddings. I don't have the equipment or the patience to do set-up wedding photo's.
