Those are great ideas, thanks for the input. I wondered if Donations would keep RME ahead of the game.

I'm thinking that if we combined some of these ideas, we would be just fine.

Also, is there a way to link our avatars off-site? I host most of my pics on imagestation.com, but as far as I know, the software here requires the avatar to be uploaded to RME's server. Am I wrong? This seems like a way to reduce bandwidth.

Well,, I don't want to piss EZ off by pissing on a smile.

I'm always game for helping others out. One reason I hardly ever go over to the PBB any more is because of the "Red Star" crap.

However, I have made alot of friends on this board and I love the fact that this is a local crowed.

If you need my money,, I'll give what I can.

Yeah, EZ gets offended if you smile at him. :D :D

I think Tv_Larson's idea about Donations is great. No Red Stars, but mabey some kind of bonus for Donating? Again, hold onto your $$.

I think the solution is everyone getting off their asses and using that free web space that comes with almost every internet service provider subscription. you know that 10 megs that you get to host your own web space. get a frickin FTP program and upload your pics to your web space and host them from there. it is easy, uses the resources of your ISP instead of RME and you can post 50 pics in a thread without using a bit more of RME resources. Blacksheep has it straight up!!

I think we should eliminate the attach file option and force people to learn that is the only way.

I think instead of blaming people for being Lazy, help us understand.

I have no clue how to do what you are saying we should do.

As a modarator you should guide not blame.

Another form of putting them on with the IMG button is through your yahoo briefcase. Just sign up for yahoo, you don't need to use the e-mail, but the briefcase is handy, I have 26 pictures in mine, which only uses up 14.10 megs. The briefcase has a 30 meg capacity for free users. If you want to get more you can pay Yahoo for like a 100 meg briefcase, but, I don't think that big is necessary.

spence, anybody ever told you that you are ornery? well I'm tellin you now. Shawn has it right, some people aren't as savvy as others on the board, because they don't do it as much as others do. Some people here have jobs that require them to use the net, as a byproduct, the know alot more about it. I'm not giving you a hard time because you don't know JACK about driving a semi in Montana this time of year, so don't give me a hard time because I don't know what an ISP is.

I see that alot of people here like the smiles. Me to. I've even wrote down several RME postid #'s to try and save bandwidth.
Make a side bar with alot of reusable smmiles if thats the way to not keep re-posting them and taking up bandwidth.
.
.
Hey spence here is a (THE?) problem with linking off the board, or on board for that matter.
I'm trying to post a gif (smiley) and I need to link off RME's already used smile pos. Well that means I need to put down [in ] http://www. Rocky mountiain exetreme. com / attachment.php?s =& postid = whatever # 22759 say [/out] minus the spaces....

I also link off my photoshots and can even barely remember that... Add off the top in the IMG box http:// www.photoshots-like user-skyetone - photos- wheeling- idiotshot and it will link.
Or have the exeact page and exact image up on a seperate page of the net and jump back and forth with cut and paste links.

Not to piss of the non savy but how do you teach old dogs these tricks?

Hey greg is it the pics that really take up the most bandwidth? I try and re-use the same pic if I need to re-post but, thats rarely. The pics are the best part of either tech or trail reports. Ahh anywhere there needed, even in that worthless for sale forum.
Most are low resolution and reasonably small in width. How other that making it a big PITA to link to a pic hosted somewhere else can we get this problem solved?

If you are upgrading is there a way to just go BIG? Like POR BIG and be done? then just throw in the pitty pot to help cover the cost. 50$ a month between several regulars is nothing. I'll pay my 2$ a month for 12 months. wooo here is 25$ keep the change...

I'm more than happy to try and host my pictures elsewhere, but all you had to do is ask... This is the first conversation I have ever heard about the bandwith being a problem. Lead the way captain...

I'm all about a $5-10 dontation, totally worth it. What I do not want, is to have to click on all the attatchments to follow a thread, anything that could be done to prevent this, I would support. What about deleting all of the old posts and pictures from the Chit-Chat and General4x4 section? Say anything over 6 months old.

I think the Rockcrawling trips and Tech section are too valuable to delete... Just my opinion.. :D

Here's the thing, the harder it is to access, the less enjoyable the experience. Donations sound pretty good, can I donate chips?(Kurt, did yu ever finish that bag of Flamin Hots?) The key to hte success of this board is how easy and newbie friendly it is. where do I send my fifty?

I'm down with a small fee and what not. Definatley don't want to click else where to view pics. What's the point? I also agree with deleting old stuff. My 2 cents
