Search on PBB. Welderboy just built his new ride with pipe. Caleb, most pipe is not .25. Schedule 40 is about .130 or so in a 1.5 ID
Just cause anar... Er, Just cause welderboy did it doesn't make it right.

Just searched pirate for welderboy. He's got two posts, and hasn't visited PBB since 12-31-1969 (well, that's what it says...).

I didn't endorse it. I didn't say it was right. I'll find the link, gimme a sec. IMO, pipe can be used with success in certain applications.

So how can you tell the difference between pipe and tube? There is like 30 to 40 ft lying around at my work that I can use and I was arguing with a co-worker whether it was pipe or tube. It looks just like tube and the diameter is 1.5 with what appears to be .125 wall thickness. Does anyone off hand have the price differences between pipe and all the types of tube? I called boman and kemp the other day for some square tubing, but didn't get around to asking them about pipe and tube.

I understand that pipe is better at taking abrasions, like for a set of sliders that will be getting gouged on rocks. I don't think there is any question as to tube being a better overall product in this sport, but I am sure that pipe used right ("used right" was the key word here) it could be used in many applications.

Tube is measured by the OD, and pipe is measured by the ID.

the dom on my sliders is plenty strong, its 1.75 .120 wall and i have slammed it on some rocks (mainly on purpose) and it has only surface scratched and there is one small dent, nothing major at all. i was surpised by this because everyone is always talking about how much harder poop...oops i mean pipe is :D
but why would you want to use pipe? if you take too many shortcuts to make your rig cheaper, it is going to end up being a) crappy and b) gay
