I am sick of threads about this that are full of comments like I heard this, my buddy said, so and so is going to buy............ There is way to much mis-information out there.

I want somewhere that we can find the straight dope from those in the know!!
The rest of us just need to shut up, listen, and learn!!
People like Kurt, Mavrick, Drtsql, etc.
Just the facts and what the rest of us need to do to MAKE SURE WE DON'T GET LOCKED OUT!!

So guys, tell us what is going on, what we need to do....

Perhaps you could try a search on Google or Yahoo. You could find SITLA's website that way & won't have to be offended by someone elses "mis-information".

I know that!!
I am talking about, what people are doing....Like Kurt's talking about....4 people trying to bid....Not wanting them to bid against each other unknowingly....
Is u4wda looking at bidding if given enough donations? Is there some other organization being set up to bid? BRC? USA-ALL?
That kind of info....

No, after dicussing the idea in depth, over and over... there is no way that a group could take on such a project... We can barely scrape up $3k for landuse at our annual raffle... there is noooo way that we could get people to donate $50k+ to buy the land... I wish we could, mabey in the future... :(

As of now, we are hoping that the interested buyers are able to secure the land and keep it open... most likely they will charge a small fee to use the property (like Pritchett, Hells, Fins, etc) which I forsee no problem with...

Hope for the best... :)

Marc, if you have any specific questions, your more than welcome to call me dude! :D

Has anyone talked to SILTA about noting the fact that Strike Ravine and Upper Helldorado cross this property? This is an encumberance is it not? Will they provide an easement before the auction occurs?

Has there been any success in delaying the sale?

We can all bet that those greenies are getting thier check books out and selling their vans!

There is likely no way to prevent or delay the auction. But it is very prominently noted in the sale brochure that San Juan County is asserting claims to multiple roads/trails on the property, so no one will be able to claim they didn't know or weren't told. I had previously expressed interest in bidding on the properties, but that is out of the question now. It's entirely possible that no one will bid on it, after all the 1/4 section that was previously sold went unbid on for at least one previous auction and as stated before it is very difficult to get enough donations to be able to have a chance at it. Another possibility is that no one will bid high enough to satisfy SITLA, they do have an absolute minimum amount that they will accept, but they don't say what that amount is.

I read the part that said the county was claiming roads. I presume someone has talked to the county about this. I am pretty sure they would want to claim Strike Ravine. Does anyone know for sure if they plan to claim Upper Helldorado?
