hahahah oh wait. :mad2: that's better.

So after finding out (and yes, I should have known) that the u-pullit yards on 21st have an age limit on admittance, I decided to go to PM Truck Parts to try and get a !@#@! NP241 tailshaft housing, as mine was soundly beaten by a driveshaft after the 16yr old never-been-changed u-joint broke, sending it flying about. Said beating resulted in an ATF-bleeding leak.

So they get me one off "a core, I think that one with the cracked case", I get ready with the <$20. So, how much? "$40". For a part off a cracked case? whaaaaat???  Thank you very much. This from the same people who KNOW much better than I possibly could (because they've been doing this longer than I've been out of diapers, of course) that in 1978, Chevy did too use split rims: regular rims were an option then.

I should have known, and I will not make that mistake again. So, PM TRUCK PARTS! Y'all get the gas face, b*tches! Suck it!

and now for the fun part: The other yard had one too. The truck it was in was busted all to hell, looked like a train hit it, frame rails pointind hard left.... bellhousing on the auto tranny broken clean off, driveshaft cracked in 3pcs, and look at my luck! the entire output shaft is broken out of the case! Sweet! I'll just grab this yoke and slide it right of...... what? it's stuck? shooooot... well, maybe there's a snapring or something stupid on these newer ones (no, that makes no sense, but I was very hot in the Magna sun, forgive me).. Take off the 4 bolts holding the tailshaft housing on... and LOOOK AT THE TWISTED SPLINES!!!! aaaaaaaa!!! :mad2: :( :ugh:

I beat all 27 of them straight with my Craftsman framing hammer (32oz). Felt like John Henry doing it too... TING! TINGTINGTING TING!!!

anway, in case any of you ever have to do that, it can be done. Makes the normally maybe 2minute job take about 25 though. Those splines like being twisted. OH YEAH! the tailshaft housing was $8.50 there. So even paying myself a buck a minute I still saved money by NOT BUYING FROM PM TRUCK PARTS, PROUD RECIPIENT OF.... THE GAS FACE.

step into the AM the PM till the dawn, yo! aaahahahahahaha

With prices like that, and knowledgeable staff too, they ought to at least have a big tub of KY, to help with customer relations.

They were just telling me yesterday what a pile a 400 small block was, but the 350 or a 383 were awesome.....(personally, I'd rather have the cubes and run about 10-15 degrees warmer)...... "Everybody I know with a 400 is always working on them " whatever......

They also quoted me $1800 on a TBI 454 and told me what a pile a Vortec was..... it was kinda funny 10 minutes I spent there yesterday.

I don't know who you guys dealt with. One of the owners has been a friend and nieghbor of my faimily for over 30 years. I know he is dealing with some serious medical issues, so if it was him, give him a little break. He may not be completely with it.

Fair enough, but has he been sick for the last... 8years? They lost a customer for good today with that $40 tailhousing. They can't be much more than that NEW!

In fact, if anyone has access, please look up how much an NP241 tailshaft housing is for an '89 Blazer, dealer cost and retail. I'm just curious now.

And I'm not saying the older guy isn't a decent fellow, just screwing himself out of a lot of business with those @#!@%$ prices.
